The best sushi in Amsterdam (and not just in our opinion)…

We really like to eat (read: order) sushi occasionally (read: OFTEN) and we definitely have an opinion about where you should and shouldn't go. But still... We also occasionally find it important to gauge our taste among a group of people we hold in high esteem. You. Because anyone who reads Bart's Booklet, we confirm, not at all modestly, must have taste. Right? And the verdict was unanimous: it is the best, nicest, coziest sushi restaurant in Amsterdam Sushi Ken. Or Ken Sushi, you can say that too, we believe. It's not all good, by the way: you sit (and that doesn't always want to be the case with the average Japanese).

To start at the beginning: you can eat Japanese and you can eat Japanese. What makes the difference is omakase. Whose grandmother? No, omakase. This is an age-old Japanese concept and stands for a way of dining in which the guest completely surrenders to the chef's skills. In other words: eat what is available, also an 'age-old concept' in our home. In the Netherlands the omakase crew is not yet very extensive, but it is a success.

We don't do that intro here for nothing: at Know Sushi in Amsterdam you eat Omakase sushi. Just like you could do at a traditional sushi bar in Japan. It goes like this: find a spot at the long bar in the small, traditional sushi bar, almost nose to nose with the chef. Be quick to make your reservation because there can only be 10 guests. You can choose, sort of: you have an omakase menu of 20, 25 or 30 bites. And furthermore, we thought it was DELICIOUS. But you have to experience what you get for yourself. Great tip for a special evening out.
