Kiem Bar: the summer pop-up from Café Kiem that you have to catch in Rotterdam
Summer in Rotterdam tastes best with a glass of good wine and the sun on your face. And with Kiem Bar We now also have an official excuse to do so. From the team behind Café Kiem, one of our favorite spots in Rotterdam North, comes a summer pop-up you won't want to miss.
Do you know Café Kiem Already? The small restaurant on Proveniersstraat in Rotterdam North, founded by two chefs who earned their stripes at De Matroos en het Meisje, Très, and Héroine. At Café Kiem, you eat and drink as if in a chic restaurant, yet the atmosphere remains accessible and relaxed. Natural wine is their thing, the kitchen follows the seasons, and the menu changes along with what the farmer, butcher, and fishmonger have to offer that day.
This summer, they are launching something new. Kiem Bar is opening its doors at Booon, right around the corner from Café Kiem at that cozy intersection of Proveniersstraat and Molenweg. From June through August, it is open every Friday and Saturday from 18:00 PM until late.
What makes Kiem Bar special? The wines. Not polished supermarket wines, but living wines that have been processed as little as possible. Purely what the grape and nature produce, just a little different from bottle to bottle. Guest chefs join in weekly for a rotating selection of snacks, complemented by music and a constantly changing program. Jazz one weekend, something completely different the next. Exactly why you’ll want to visit more than once.
