Koevoet, Amsterdam (west)
Nice, all those newbies in the city, but let's not forget that it is often the classics where, despite all the hipness, you secretly have the best evenings (or days), where you actually eat the best and where people don't complain so much about bio-organic-from-the-world farmer-on-the-corner-or-specially-for-us-shipped-from-Italy dishes – nine times out of ten this has been the case for years, long before it had to be told.
Restaurant Koevoet sounds and looks like a Mokem dining room. Ha! Not nice. The eatery is run by a team of pure-bred Italians who speak poor Dutch, slightly better English and serve a fantastic burrata (perhaps the tastiest in Amsterdam), a delicious ravioli en carne prepare and enjoy the scroppino at your table. Often full, but early or late in the evening you can always find a table in the noisy upstairs room. No website: Lindenstraat 17
