Okay, Iceland is, no matter how you look at it, an expensive joke... Food, drinks, excursions: expensive expensive expensive. Except for the flight, as both Icelandair and the pink (!) airline WOW Air fly there at ridiculously low rates (did you know that you can make a transfer with Icelandair to Portland or New York that takes up to 7 days? That's what we call two birds with one stone). ). But the island is really great fun, for city trippers and nature seekers and ideal for those who want to combine the two. The most affordable (and comfortable) sleep is at the KEX Hostel (so nice), but there is a good chance that you will have to shower in the hallway, and worse; poop. If you prefer a nice bed and a little more money to spend, book a room at the Kvosin Downtown Hotel, which in my opinion is the nicest option in the city. Not nearly as cozy and lively as the KEX (at times even a bit too quiet and boring) but delicious and beautiful. And also on the central square of Reykjavik. Small strange thing: the hotel's website looks colorful and playful, but we found tranquility and Scandinavian pictures in grayish tones. So you know. Kvosin Downtown Hotel
