Fan of NAZKA in De Pijp Amsterdam
A cozy, casual atmosphere in a colorful, modern interior with excellent, adventurous food. NAZKA opened its doors in 2019 in De Pijp in Amsterdam and if you still haven't been; go! The name comes from the Nazka lines, the special drawings in the sand of the desert in southern Peru. And NAZKA is also Peruvian fine dining in a modern guise. Each dish comes with a card with the story behind the typical Peruvian ingredients or cultural details to which the dishes refer. And an evening at NAZKA is one culinary journey of discovery through the areas and traditions of Peru. The traditional ceviche and ají peppers come with a modern twist and are even available in a vegetarian version. There is a chance that you will walk back into the quintessential Amsterdam Pijp afterwards with a slight culture shock. But in any case, very satisfied with a well-filled belly of flavors and dishes never tasted before.
Do you suddenly feel like going on a trip? We totally get that: holiday inspiration from near to far.
Peruvian cuisine is one of the top cuisines in the world. And yet it remains a bit of a neglected child and that is such a shame. If you eat at NAZKA you will immediately understand what we mean. An evening of dining at NAZKA is one big adventure of flavors and dishes. If you have the chance, have a wine pairing or... botanical pairing. The latter are non-alcoholic drinks made from botanical ingredients, depending on the season. We had a drink of asparagus tea and one of young beans. Absolutely surprising and fitting with the flavors of the dishes. Or your table companion chooses the top wines and you choose the botanicals and together you discover all the flavors.
On the menu you will find dishes with typical Peruvian ingredients and dishes such as pepian de rocoto en Tiger milk for – vegetarian or fish – ceviche. Through the cards on the table you will learn more about what is on your plate. For a while you will travel through Peru, with influences from traditional Inca cuisine combined with European, Asian and African influences. Expect lots of umami, lots of color and a cozy Latino atmosphere. Owner Raul Lansink and Koosh Kothari (chef) create a beautiful combination of top-level South American food and a cozy vibe. Whether you come here for a chic business dinner, a romantic date or a... catch up session come with a friend, the atmosphere and the delicious food contribute to your experience of the evening. An evening to remember for a long time and - if you haven't already done so - to take NAZKA and Peru to your heart.
