Otentic, Amsterdam (Centre)

New in the Negen Straatjes in Amsterdam is perfume house Otentic, owned by old hands in the perfume trade Myriam Nussbaum and Ivo Jacobs. The duo felt that there was a significant lack of personal and pure scents and therefore want to change that with Otentic. The French nose – adorned with crimson glasses – Jean-Denis Saisse from Grasse, the epicenter of the perfume world, devoted no less than three years to the development of these fragrances.

Otentic works a little differently than usual: within eight different styles - fragrance families such as the woody and smoky Arborath, or the sweet and fruity Sedux - you can choose from another eight perfumes. The scents within a fragrance family range from light to heavy and all have a slightly different nuance and feel - they express character and emotion, as diverse as the wearer himself, according to the house. There are eight styles, so with 64 scents (plus a 'primeval perfume' Anno 1785, with 'forgotten' ingredients) you are sure to find a perfume that suits you. Bart initially thought there was far too much to choose from, but noticed that you soon realize what you consider a malodorous club - and what you don't. Once you have developed a love for a particular family, choosing a favorite within that ranks is no longer so difficult. Try it, who knows, you might find the scent of scents. Keizersgracht 233, Amsterdam, Otentic
