Much cheaper than you think, parking in Amsterdam!
Yeeeees, we really want to go to Amsterdam for a day, but we want to be flexible and bring a lot of stuff with us (back). And driving into Amsterdam is obviously not feasible... Wrong! The tip of all tips that we've been secretly keeping to ourselves for a while now—let's be honest—and are finally releasing: the magic word is... Book now! Excuse me? How? We found out by chance and since then we've never done it any other way: through the Q-Park website book your spot in advance in one of the Amsterdam Q-Park parking garages Book now and you'll pay an average of less than €25 (in the Jordaan!) for the full 24 hours. And at some locations it's even cheaper, starting from €10 per day. we kid you not.
That's how it went for us: a few years ago, we spotted a small parking garage near our house (Jordaan): perfect for family and friends visiting. But how to get in? No idea. Until we looked closer and saw it was a Q-Park. A sign saying you could reserve a spot online led us to the website, and since then, we've basically never used it any other way. Simple as that, really.
And that simplicity isn't the only advantage: you pay far, far less than parking on the street, and almost as importantly, it's incredibly stress-free. No more driving around in circles looking for a (too small) spot (or even worse: parallel parking right next to the canal – oh, the nightmare). You're 100% sure you'll have a parking spot (that's the whole point of reserving, after all) and you'll know exactly where: you can choose that yourself on the Q-Park website. Enter the dates you want to park (and leave again: an hour, a few days, or even a few days) and the map will easily show you where there's space. It's child's play.
Plus: you pay in advance, so there are no surprises later, which is also very convenient. Upon arrival, the barrier opens automatically based on your license plate; so you no longer need a ticket. Upon your return, you don't have to go to the payment terminal and can drive straight out.
