The best restaurants for large groups in Amsterdam

New Year's reception, team reception, farewell party, birthday dinner... There is always something to celebrate, and as Dutch people we are of course excellent at that. We do not complain, we actually enjoy it! But if you have all your friends, family and colleagues at home, it quickly becomes a crowded place. Who cooks? Who provides the necessary refreshments? You can easily outsource this, and in this list you will find the best restaurants/places to go with a large group.

West | Café Restaurant Amsterdam

West | Café Restaurant Amsterdam

What used to be a Machine Pump Building has been in use for years now Café Restaurant Amsterdam (also known as Cradam). In the former engine room, where the restaurant is now, there were four pumps that pumped the water through enormous pipes to the basement and the water tower to provide the city with water. Pffff, interesting, right? What is important is that the place is spacious and the menu is full of French classics. Perfect for a large group, with a special menu for that, ideal for a fun outing with the kids and always a nice choice. Whether it rains or shines, it is always nice to stay inside, and on the terrace you can also sit nicely when the weather is nice!

East | Rust

East | Rust

Old love never rusts. Where Roest (you know it from that little beach, among other things) was once a raw, creative hotspot, you can now pull up a chair in a stylish restaurant where candlelight and white tablecloths contrast perfectly with that lovely warehouse vibe. Think: a large industrial building with a mouth-watering interior, various spaces (so plenty of room), and a relaxed atmosphere. At Roest, dinner tastes just as good as drinks at the bar — and that’s exactly what we’re in the mood for.

Center | Cantine de Caron

Center | Cantine de Caron

Cantine de Caron in Westerpark has been a household name for a while now, and if you haven't been yet, it's high time you did. High ceilings, that industrial vibe continued into the interior and there is plenty of room for groups of up to (!) 40 people.

Start at the bar with an oyster, charcuterie, or duck rillettes, then move on to the table for French dishes: roasted leek with romesco, Pulpo in red wine, Poussin à la Cantine, or Dry Aged côte de boeuf. Pair it with a bottle of wine, and you're all set for a fantastic evening.
