Riad Kbour & Chou is delightfully boho in the medina of Marrakech.
Tucked away in the medina, far from the hustle and bustle, lies Riad Kbour & Chou. As soon as the door closes behind you, you find yourself in a patio full of lush greenery, a lovely rooftop terrace, and six rooms that are each different. Here, you are a guest in Jacques and Nicolas's home.
You won't get a key to your room (because they don't lock), only one to the front door. You *will*, however, get pretty much the key to the city: Karim or one of the other staff members will take ample time to go through all the ins and outs with you over mint tea and delicious Moroccan treats: what to see, what to skip, which practices to keep an eye on, and which hidden gems you shouldn't miss.
The rooms are all unique, furnished with souvenirs from the twelve years Jacques and Nicolas have lived in Morocco. The beds are good, and breakfast on the rooftop terrace is simple but delicious. This is highly recommended for lovers of eclectic, quirky styling, as well as for anyone looking for a place with a free, relaxed atmosphere.
Want to head into the city? Bikes are available to discover the medina in a different way, including some nice routes provided by the house.
Man, oh man… The massage here was so good! One of the best we’ve ever had. The masseur comes to your room and the range of massages is super extensive: hot stones, Ayurvedic, everything. It doesn't get more relaxing than this. Or well, chilling afterwards by the little wading pool on the rooftop. Lovely.
This is one of the few LGBTQ-owned and LGBTQ-friendly riads in Marrakech. And when you leave, don't forget to say goodbye to the permanent residents, especially the dog, the frog, and that lightning-fast little turtle.
There are six rooms, so it is nice and small, manageable, and personal.
