Shopping gem in Haarlem: Vintage Adventures Haarlem

There are addresses that you have apparently been close to many times, but which, because they are just off the walking route, you have never noticed. A discovery, that's what we call it, and not to be missed once you know it. We had that with the quite fantastic Vintage Adventures, in the heart of Haarlem. 'The heart of Haarlem' is almost an understatement: Vintage Adventures is located directly opposite Haarlem Central Station and is no less than 400 (!) square meters in size! What do you find on all those square meters? An adventure in vintage furniture and accessories! The dream.

It's not necessarily surprising that we missed it: Vintage Adventures Haarlem has been on Stationsplein since July. Owner Bjorn once started selling Indian items from a garage box and he also had a stand in the Raaks Halle (also in Haarlem). Bjorn's things became more and more popular and the collection also expanded. Several moves followed until Bjorn found his dream location where he could display all his beautiful furniture. Correct. So it happened and since we knew that we had to go opposite Haarlem Central Station for special vintage trinkets and furniture, who would have thought that, we are at home at home.

The furniture from Vintage Adventures Haarlem mainly comes from India, but other parts of the world are also represented. Why India? Simple. Because the (young!) owner lost his heart to the country after a long journey. We can best imagine. The items from the country are colorful and can be recognized from thousands thanks to the many layers of paint. We think it's cool too.
Most of the furniture is completely authentic and between 60 and 150 years old, and there is also a small selection upcycled: reusing old objects or materials into new functional furniture and accessories. Bjorn does not do this alone, he works together with small family businesses and local carpenters. The authenticity of this unique furniture is paramount, so any new planks and reinforcements are only used with old, matching wood, and Vintage Adventures Haarlem does not use new paint. We like!

And don't think that you will come back empty-handed because it is way too expensive: you can get a little cupboard for about €600 and there are also small items for less than a tenner. Or such a beautiful eye-catcher from an old door in the house. It costs about €1350, but then you get something! You should also not forget the “Outlet Treasures” corner at the back right of the store: everything in this corner is discounted up to 60% and that makes us discount fanatics very happy.
