Sleeping at Les Jardins de Villa Maroc, Essaouira
The hotel is just a fifteen-minute drive outside the city, but every disadvantage also has an advantage: Essaouira is known as a city shrouded in fog and you will not be bothered by that at Les Jardins de Villa Maroc. Ha! It's wonderful to have a little mist in that heat while shopping. And if you want to bake a bit in the sun, the best place is just outside Essaouira. The fog has cleared and you are basking in the blazing sun at Les Jardins de Villa Maroc. You even have a choice of two swimming pools. Lucky.
The place that Les Jardins de Villa Maroc covers quite a bit of land and offers a modest four rooms from patio to suite. There is a place for every type of company. From couple to family. As a romantic couple, you will not be bothered by a family with a crying baby (or a laughing baby like all of us, Vito, who we love to see) because you can settle in several places throughout the site. As mentioned, there are two spacious swimming pools, of course with accompanying oh-so-relaxing sunbeds including feather-soft cushions and fluffy towels. Luxury.
Don't worry: if you prefer to sleep in the city, there is also a day pass for sale that allows you to dip your toes at the pool.
The people of Les Jardins de Villa Maroc understand that if you are not staying in the city itself, you must eat well at the resort. To say that excellent care is taken care of is - let's say - an understatement: I promise, anyone who has checked in once doesn't have to leave the house anymore. In the morning the table is set for you and as soon as you sit down on your chair, coffee, fresh fruit, pancakes, a fried egg, several jams and fresh juice are brought to you. An excess. Blessed.
Just for the record; A little clarity: you can splash in the two swimming pools as long as you are a hotel guest. If you book a day pass and stay somewhere else (which is possible and recommended), then there is 'only' one swimming pool available. Here, near the 'public' swimming pool, you will also find the restaurant where an extensive lunch is served with BBQ, a range of hot and cold salads and who knows what else they have come up with since we were allowed to sleep at the hotel. Drink one there perky little rose and your day can't go wrong anymore.
There is a menu for the evening and, to be honest, it is a bit quiet in the restaurant, but you can enjoy good food there. And then roll straight into bed.
What else do you need to know? If you want to go into town, just give a shout and the nicest 'house driver' of the place will take you; in one moments notice it is ready to pick you up again. In addition, the staff is sweeter than sweet. So, and now we would like to go back to that wonderful hotel just outside Essauoira…
