Terra Wolde outdoor hotel: whistling in the forest
Anyone who knows us a little knows that we love to immerse ourselves in nature. Escape the chaos of the city for a while. There will be a dance of joy behind the scenes when we discover another magical spot in the green. Sometimes such a place is closer than you think. Outdoor hotel Terra Wolde, near – yes, yes – Zeewolde, is such a favorite. You can eat, sleep and follow the rhythm of nature here in small groups or with the whole family.
Owner Lisette is not averse to rolling up her sleeves and sowing plants herself, both literally and figuratively. Everything you encounter on the wooded grounds of the Terra Wolde outdoor hotel was created with a lot of love, and sometimes some blood, sweat and tears. Lisette, previously a catering entrepreneur for many years, changed course in 2020 to make her dream come true in the Horsterwold.
And the result is impressive. Set foot in Terra Wolde and you can forget about everything for a while. Nature is the star player here, and many people can never get enough of it. Add to that some very nice places to sleep (we will come back to this in a moment), a beautiful forest garden and an open-air restaurant, and you are exactly where you need to be. In fact, once you're there, you'll never want to go home again.
One thing is certain: at Terra Wolde you sleep in style. No dusty nature houses, but meticulously maintained, comfortable cabins, tents and luxurious forest houses. Their latest acquisitions are De Klepper and the Fruitschuur. The Klepper, designed from scratch, has the allure of a hotel room, but one where you can feel the morning sun on your face from your bed and look out over the water. Just slide open the lid and inhale that fresh forest scent. Say no more.
And then there is the Fruit Barn, a real outdoor family hotel room. Inspired by the principles of a barn house, including second floor, cozy living room, terrace on the water and a surrounding orchard. Here too you can look at the starry sky from your bed, which is just a bit more beautiful from the forest garden. Both accommodations have their own pantry for tasty coffee and tea, and a closed bathroom with shower and toilet. Everything you need (and more).
Nothing is required, everything is allowed. That is slow-living par excellence and at the same time the motto of Terra Wolde. The site exudes a great relaxing vibe, but you certainly won't be bored. They will take care of you and take care of you. You can fully enjoy the surroundings: swimming, SUPing, chilling, yoga on the yoga deck, hanging out in the vegetable garden or sailing on the beautiful waters in search of the beaver. Spot royal horses, deer and badgers during one of the cycling and walking routes or let the kids loose in the play forest with gnome route. You sail in a sloop, and it is already there ready for you. You will find numerous beaches in the area and a boating license is not required, which is also nice.
Hungry? Good news for the picnickers among us, because you have also been thought of. Bring a wicker basket full of snacks and go. You will be pampered. You can rent a sloop for four for a minimum of two hours and costs €35 per hour, including petrol.
Love goes through the stomach, especially at Restaurant Pomponius. Lisette likes to cook in her restaurant on wood, in the pizza oven or over an open fire. The vegetables come directly from the vegetable garden, the fruit and nuts from the orchard, the eggs from the chickens and green waste to the chickens. The self-sufficient circle will soon be complete again. Are you not staying overnight at Terra Wolde, but would you like to enjoy the legendary stone oven pizzas or a lunch among the tomato plants? Then you are always welcome in the relaxed outdoor restaurant.
So for those who need an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Terra Wolde is your place to be.
Whistling in nature and a perfect balance between comfort and adventure. Relax with your friends, or hang out with the family, everyone feels at home in the forest garden. Let yourself be completely pampered and opt for an all-in summer package. Choose an accommodation of your choice and enjoy delicious food during your stay.
Nothing is required, everything is allowed. Slow living has never been so nice.
