These are the nicest terraces in Tilburg
As soon as the sun comes out, we all know exactly what to do: head to a terrace. And Tilburg happens to have more than enough great spots for that. At the Piushaven, hidden away in the Dwaalgebied, or right in the middle of the Spoorzone; throughout the city, you can find places where you can easily spend a few hours. These are the terraces where we love to settle down this summer.
Right by the water, with the sun on your face, the city suddenly feels a lot further away. And all this just a few minutes' walk from the center. Villa la Vida features both a lovely waterside terrace and a colorful courtyard. Ideal for a good cup of coffee, lunch in the sun, or drinks at the end of the day. There is certainly no shortage of space, atmosphere, and good bites here.
RAK is situated practically on the water, making it one of the finest terraces in the city. While the boats come and go, you can simply order another drink, a hearty lunch, or dinner here. No spot on the terrace? No problem. With the large windows open, the interior still feels surprisingly close to the water.
Flip's tip: the generously filled salad with prawns, salmon, tuna, and chili mayonnaise. Although, to be honest, the entire menu is highly recommended.
Oh yes, we have another one at the Piushaven. At De Graanhandel – once a grain and flour factory – you can head out onto the terrace all day long. From breakfast to after-work drinks. On the large terrace, there is guaranteed plenty of space and shade during sunny summer days. The former factory building provides the atmosphere, while almost everything in the kitchen is made in-house, from fresh bread to complete dishes.
Create a newbie on the list. On the corner of Oude Markt and Stadhuisstraat, you’ll find Café Collage, complete with a cozy terrace and right where Tilburg city life passes you by. Perfect for an afternoon or evening of people-watching. On Saturdays, it’s especially lively here thanks to the market bar, where bubbly and tasty snacks are served while the Tilburg market is in full swing.
Ask a Tilburger for a good Friday afternoon drink, and chances are NOIR will be mentioned. Here, you can sit comfortably out on the street or sheltered in the patio. High tables, bar stools, good wine in beautiful glasses (also important!), and a great pub atmosphere make this a popular spot. Tip: arrive on time, because it fills up fast.
The Spaarbank is situated at the famous Tilburg five-way intersection (what were the right-of-way rules here again?!). Beneath the large, shady trees, you can settle down on one of the city's finest terraces, with a view of the characteristic monumental building. Order a portion of bitterballen, a good glass of wine, or a cold beer and enjoy Tilburg life. Oh yes, they also have a cozy backyard. But honestly? We still prefer a spot on the street.
In the middle of the Spoorpark and by the water, say no moreThe T-huis feels like a little escape from the city, even though you are still right in the middle of it. An added bonus: it is also a great place to be with children. While they let loose in the park, you can relax on the terrace with a coffee or a drink. And because Dutch mini pancakes and fries are on the menu, the little visitors are happy too. So, it's a win-win.
