In a parallel street of the unpronounceable Hverfisgata street, Reykjavik's main street, there is a pizzeria-plus at number 12, popularly called 'Pizza Place' or 'Pizza With No Name'. It is a former residential house, converted into - in my opinion - the nicest restaurant on the island, although the pizza shop does not really do restaurant-like. The store, lit with candles and a single dim bulb, is divided into several rooms, all equipped with old-fashioned wallpaper and classic furniture and, it seems, the domain of a different collector, one with a preference for hand-painted tiles, the other for toy mice and elephants, gathered in dark and cozy granny-style corners. The menu features local dishes made into delicious pizzas. There is of course no website (because it is so underground) but the top part of the building is claimed by the men of Mikkeller & Friends, the Danish beer that is also popular in Iceland. Still highly recommended, much easier to find on the web. And they even have their name on the building. You immediately know that you are in the right place. The Pizza (with no name)
