At the Rye Bread Making in Grimentz of St-Luc, you travel back in time. You learn all about how the inhabitants of the valley have been baking rye bread in the communal village oven for centuries, back to basics At its best. Cheese fondue is always good, but out on a mountaintop it naturally tastes even better. Above the village of St-Luc, accessible by funicular, stands the François-Xavier Bagnoud Observatory. At an altitude of 2200 meters, the air is thinner, cleaner, and free of light pollution, making the stars here brighter and sharper than you have ever seen. During the day, you observe the sun through a special telescope; in the evening, you take a guided tour past thousands of stars and nebulae via the 60cm telescope. François-Xavier Bagnoud Observatory

In 1941, this Saurer postal bus drove through the Val d'Anniviers for the first time, and it is still running today. A large white facade with sky-blue shutters, original wooden floors, atmospheric seating areas and lounges where guests have been gathering for generations – Bella Tola has existed since 1859. Original etchings by the Swiss painter Edouard Vallet hang in the salon, and the ceiling is painted by his contemporary Raphaël Ritz. But mind you: this is not a museum, it is a hotel where you sleep wonderfully, with a spa, indoor pool, hammam, and ice fountain, and fully pampered heads back out the door. For dinner, you choose: restaurant Chez Ida for refined French cuisine or Le Tzambron for an evening of raclette by a crackling fireplace. The view from the Chandolin Boutique Hotel is the first thing you see when you enter, and the last thing you want to let go of. The interior was designed by architectural firm Extreme Artdesign Studio: wood, stone, raw textures, and floor-to-ceiling windows that make the mountains seem to come right inside. In the wellness area, a sauna, hammam, and two heated Nordic (outdoor) pools at 36 degrees await you. The wine bar features over 400 wines, including the exclusive Vin du Glacier: the glacier wine that has been aging here for generations in larch barrels that are never completely emptied, meaning every bottle carries a little of every previous vintage. And, making it extra special: this wine is not bottled or sold; you drink it only here, straight from the barrel. And when you return home exhausted from a day in the mountains, the Moonclub lounge bar is exactly the place to hang out.

Chandolin Boutique Hotel

At 2337 meters, accessible only on foot or by snowshoe, the Hotel Weisshorn has stood on a ridge above St-Luc since 1882. No car, no gondola, no shortcuts: you have to earn your stay at this hotel. The rooms share a bathroom, the floors creak, and it doesn't just feel like a 19th-century hotel; it is one. In the evenings, all guests gather around the table for a four-course menu featuring seasonal dishes and raclette on Thursdays, creating a convivial atmosphere you won't find in any four-star hotel. The house specialty is blueberry tart. The sun terrace overlooks the entire Val d'Anniviers and is so beautiful that you have to force yourself to go back down.

Hotel Weisshorn

Hotel Europe is located on Rue des Cinq Quatre Mille in Zinal, the street named after the five mountain peaks of over 4000 meters visible from Val d'Anniviers. You can understand why the location is spectacular: right in the heart of the valley, 300 meters from the ski lifts, surrounded by breathtaking mountains. It is a relaxed 3-star hotel with a good restaurant where the wood-fired oven is running at full blast; prepare yourself for fresh and crispy pizzas with a thin crust and fresh toppings, exactly as they should be. Hotel Europe

After nine years of construction, Resort Guernerés opened in January 2026 as the newest and most exclusive address in the Val d'Anniviers. At an altitude of 1570 meters, on the edge of the red Forêt piste in Grimentz, you will find luxury apartments and chalets for larger groups. In the morning, you literally step straight onto the slopes, and in the evening, you unwind in bistro Restaurant Nava. Resort Guernerés

For those who want to eat well in the valley, there are two addresses you shouldn't miss.

Les Flocons de Neige in Grimentz has two faces. La Table d'André is the gastronomic dining room with an open kitchen and 14 Gault Millau points. Open only in the evening, it offers a creative menu that surprises every time. Think poached egg with creamy regional cheese from the valley, foie gras with wild mushrooms, or a dessert that looks just as good as it tastes. La Brasserie is its informal sibling next door, open all day, serving homemade burgers, tartare, and entrecôte. While you eat, you can watch the gondola gliding up to the Espace Weisshorn outside; book it right away for tomorrow. Snowflakes

Espace Weisshorn is worth the gondola. At an altitude of 2700 meters, created by star chef Didier de Courten, the restaurant works exclusively with local products: a perfectly poached egg with Valais regional cheese, XXL-sized raclette ravioli, and risotto with violet cauliflower. From the panoramic terrace, you look out over the Couronne Impériale. Allow two hours for three courses; this is not a quick bite on the slopes. Espace Weisshorn

A different menu every evening, and on Fridays you can sit down for raclette with raw milk cheese from Anniviers; that is Restaurant Beausite in a nutshell. You always start with a plate of homemade cured meat on rye bread and finish with a sorbet of Valais apricot gin. The atmosphere is warm and homely, the service friendly.
