Weinlokal Stern: Amsterdam's new German hotspot

Weinlokal Stern is a new German restaurant on the Singel canal, housed in the former Breda restaurant building. For the first time, the restaurant is bringing serious German cuisine and a wine list to Amsterdam. Chef Luke de Jong (known for Scheepskameel, also German, of course) serves dishes like schweinshaxe, spätzle, and bratwurst with a modern twist. You'll also find products like oysters from the German Wadden Islands on the menu. The wine list was created by Mo Moody (wine expert known for Scheepskameel) and Chanan Wisse (co-founder of Wijnkameel and also known for Scheepskameel). Expect plenty of German bottles and European favorites. German beers are also on tap, and the schnapps is cold—just like on the slopes (après-ski vibes!). Stern is open Thursday through Monday for drinks and dinner, but the combination is actually the best.
