The 5 tastiest shops in The Hague
The Hague is we have roll. In addition to the many nice restaurants and bars, there are also a number of wonderful "I do luxury shopping" addresses. Wonderful tips for the winter months (although they are also great in the summer), when you prefer to bring all your goodies into your home, or perfect for the holidays and dinners at home.
Here we go...
In the Zeeheldenkwartier it is after Bakery Bartine the neighborhood has gained another pearl: the chocolate shop De Bonte Koe. De Bonte Koe has been around for some time. As a family business, they have branches in The Hague, Schiedam and Rotterdam. And therefore a second location in the beautiful royal city. It is also important to report that a new generation is at the helm. Namely the duo Connor and Amy. What does this duo have their sights on? Making chocolate even more sustainable – and keeping it affordable.
The 75 square meter building is the perfect location for the chocolate shop - there is a real tasting room at the back of the building. Where you can taste all the goodies, while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea. You must do it. There is also a small garden: perfect for the summer.
To go! And forget the triple chocolate granola not to take with you. Then you start your morning well every day.
If you have to do your shopping at nice shops, then a good wine shop is indispensable. Des Jeux Orange has settled in Vondelstraat in The Hague. A wonderfully light place where you can get natural wine and sake. There is also coffee available, if it is still too early for wine tasting.
In the short time of its existence, fun events have also been organized. For example, Jeux Orange opened with Zuiver wines (you know it, the one with/from choux) and nice evenings were organized in collaboration with Vincenzo's Osteria (also a nice address in 070).
The labels of each and every bottle can be peeled off, or better yet: hung in a frame. Tip for when the bottle is empty.
Cheers!
Open Thursday-Saturday,
Ice in winter? We often see things close after the summer peak. Not Pete! At Piet you get ice cream in a coupe, with everything on it, on top or on the side.
Toppings can be chosen, coffee can be added. In short, ice cream with plenty of additional preconditions. We want that. And The Hague too, it seems, because it is always busy in this nice, colorful shop.
This nice little shop opened in July 2022, but remained relatively under the radar. But Bird Flower is worth celebrating. Come here for your vegan delicacies or take a break between all the shopping.
From brownies (vegan) to brioche, from chuffins to vegan cookies. This is where you need to be, this is where you need to be. Everything is vegetarian or vegan.
Inside you can sit just as comfortably in a cozy little place. Open every day from 10 am. On Friday and Saturday they are open until 19 pm and serve hearty snacks and wines. Yum!
It can hardly get any tastier. In the heart of Scheveningen – near the Zuiderstrand – you will find Gastrovino. A beautiful self-contained building. Here you come for a good glass of wine, a cup of coffee, but also for a delicious lunch or dinner.
The deli is located behind the restaurant. Which is actually an “I want to take everything with me” thing. From wines (lots of wine) to the tastiest home-made dishes. From tiramisu to lasagna, from meatballs to the tastiest prawns. There are also delicious (but pricey) sandwiches. Burrata, Vitello Tonato. That kind of work.
So have fun.
