Heroes of Heroes: the (care) vineyard Vinea Cura
If there is one thing that makes us happy, it is that ultimate holiday feeling in our own country. Best of both worlds, so to speak. After all, how the clock ticks at home... finally. We wrote about this before stunners from vineyards, wine lovers can get a new one again must visit add to their list. A very special one this time. And that in our own beloved little country. Hello Dutch grape; welcome to Vinea Cura Heroes of Heroes in Limburg. The first care vineyard from The Netherlands.
The ever-growing vineyards over the rolling Limburg hills have now also reached the village of Helden. Not that we complain about the growing number of vineyards in the country, far from it in fact. Bring on those bottled bottles of home-grown wine.
What makes this vineyard oh-so-special? It's all in the name, to start: 'Vinea Curea' literally means 'the vineyard of care'. On the one hand, referring to the care that a vineyard requires, and on the other hand to the people who work there: people with a great distance to the labor market find their place here. At Heroes of Heroes. A place to work, be involved in society and develop personally. The owners of the vineyard both worked for over 40 years (joint hands for this!) in healthcare - in addition to having their own hobby vineyard - and voilà: that's where this idea was born. On the fertile soil in Limburg. The vineyard plays a central role in daytime activities. Although these Heroes can also work with the farm animals (did someone shout 'donkeys?': present!), in the catering industry (opened since April 2022, brand new), woodworking (the interior is made in-house, fun) or in the vegetable garden.
The lunch that you will be served on the lovely terrace - with your face always in the sun, so to speak - consists mainly of products from this vegetable garden.
At the Heroes of Heroes, no one is left out, everyone has a suitable place and the well-being of both people and nature is central. See, we like that. Then let's talk about the looks and feel from Vinea Cura: man oh man, it's delicious. Strolling around the vineyards and on the grounds - which is genuinely fun - and where the sweet, hospitable staff are happy to help you. Go for a wine tasting of one of their homemade wines or for a drink with a glass of bubbles, of course also from their own vineyard, on the side.
Let's be honest: places and products with a great story - which are also beautiful, let's face it - are the best. The ultimate holiday feeling, which a vineyard evokes, is also present. So you can't miss it.
