Zwolle (+ Zwolle wine festival, June 7, 2015)
Never tell a Zwolle resident that the city 'doesn't appeal to you' because he will never look at you again. At least, that's how I know one. And so we really believe that Zwolle jevanhet is, we have to. If there is a time to visit the Blauwvingers (as the residents of Zwolle are called), it is Sunday, June 7: then there is the annual Wine Festival. The Grote Kerkplein will be filled with stalls where wine connoisseurs and makers from far and wide offer their wines, between 15 p.m. and 20 p.m. (and let the weather be BLOODY beautiful, also in Zwolle). More Zwolle:
Kooture Clothes, haircut and coffee with brands such as Minimum, Dr. Denim, mbyM, Anerkjendt, Kronstadt and Komono. On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays you can have your hair cut by Dian in the mezzanine, but you can also just pop in to cuddle Joe, the boxer. Boutique Kootuur (for more Barts Boutique: here)
In The Neighborhood Nice café where you can enjoy special beers on tap in addition to tasty wines. Don't forget to order: the tastiest meatballs ever! A year ago, In De Buurt was nominated for the most beautiful bar in the Netherlands and Helga and Harrold are the perfect hosts. In The Neighborhood
The Winery A tiny tapas restaurant with the best aioli in the world (or so the people of Zwolle think). Reservations are not possible, so be quick, because on a summer day you don't want to miss the tables between the French doors. The kitchen is no bigger than a cutting board. The Winery
Hedon The best music venue in the area. Closed for almost a year for renovations, but now open again and beautifully renovated. For great parties and low ticket prices. Hedon
The Broerenkerk A church converted into a large bookstore and grand café, just like in Maastricht but even more beautiful (again: according to the Zwolle team). The Broerenkerk
Grand Cafe Het Wijnhuis Or the organizers of the Wine Festival. It seems needless to say that the love for wines is particularly great here. The Winery
