Los Angeles is big, very big. So men I can think of the permanent beach life on Santa Monica, or that of Malibu, but that turns out to be an hour's drive away (yup, almost from one side to the other in Hollandia). That is why there are so many hotels with rooftop swimming pools spread across the city. Which ones should they be? And where to eat? We would be happy to give you a start go to list in LA: 8 x Los Angeles.

The Line Hotel
Downtown LA beats the rest of Los Angeles, at least, in terms of the coolest hangouts. One of the unmissable places there, in Korea Town to be precise, is The Line Hotel. The location, Korea Town, has a so said 24/7 energy and the hotel helps with this because of the greenhouse next to the swimming pool where you can enjoy lunch, and especially watch and be watched. A little bit boho, a little bit gangsta, a little bit chicWell, that's it in a nutshell. Hip with creative and colorful, artistic design, Korean food and a lot of attention and time, the latest music, preferably from the area, but that is not that difficult in home of the stars LA

Kettle Black
This Italian hotter-than-hot hotspot is located in the middle of Silverlake, the 'hipster' district of the City of Angels. Restaurant Kettle Black was founded at the same time as its sister Sawyer (see below), and became a slightly more chic version of that restaurant sister. With a ceiling of lights that reminds of a starry sky. What to choose from the menu? Everything. Very tasty, very cozy, very hip, very LA. Not to be missed.

Sawyer
As a sister of the Italian restaurant Kettle Black, Cafe-restaurant Sawyer is the more relaxed, rougher, but just as tasty version of Kettle Black, but with a romantic patio as a big bonus. Plus: Sawyer is open for every meal of the day and serves polished American bites

Gracias Madre
Sometimes you almost – almost – think it's a shame to go to the same place again and again, especially when you live in a city that has so much to offer. But on the other hand... Whe changes a winning team?! Gracias Madre is one of them. Gracias Madre is quite unique as 'plant-based Mexican restaurant' and is a true (clean) feast for lunch, weekend brunch and dinner for both vegans and carnivores (or omnivores, that is me).

Malibu Farm
Malibu Farm, located on the Malibu Pier. White colored, blue tinted, tasty honest plates and a view over the steps to the beach deep into the sea. A dream. Sitting both outside and inside Slash lounge is available at both The Cafe and The Restaurant. From early morning to late evening.

The Now
We know Mani-Pedis. And we love. Just a moment of pure reflection and on top of that you also walk extra pretty outside. In cities like London we also know the concept of “blow dry bars” (or blow-drying hair on an assembly line in a bar-like setting, like!) all too well. Take that formula and apply it to massages et voila, enter The Now. At four different addresses in Los Angeles you can hide and get a menu of massages for a very good price (see: $60 for an hour and from $35). Just pop in for 25 minutes without an appointment? Can! An entire afternoon of massage after massage? Can! There is something for everyone.

The Bungalow
The Bungalow. If you are thinking of dancing in a kind of beach tent (because no, they don't have beach tents like the ones in Dutch) where there is also something to snack on. An all too famous place in Santa Monica among both locals and holidaymakers. The Bungalow has the feel of a home in The Hamptons, with a pool table, several indoor and outdoor bars, living room including fireplace, tennis tables, and more. During the day to drift off, at night to wake up.

Petit Ermitage
Small, boutique, bohemian style, almost always really (!) good company and weekly music and film screenings. Ok, it's technically 'members only', but that's pretty easy to get around.
