The nicest indoor playgrounds in Amsterdam

Yes, it's good to play outside and get some fresh air, but sometimes that's just not what you feel like doing as a child. Especially when it's cold and wet outside. Then nothing beats ball pits, bouncy castles and huge blocks. So off to the indoor playground. These are the nicest indoor playgrounds in Amsterdam.

Even more kids p tips throughout the country? Check this list of always-good addresses.

(not in Amsterdam? Then also check these out: The Treehouse Club, The HagueWonderpark cafe, Amstelveen – a really nice café for us, and a really nice (tasteful) indoor playground for the kids | Kidzcity, Utrecht – also one in the 'brightly colored ball pit' category, but everything here is just a little less overstimulated. And on top of that, there are quite impressive play equipment, fairground style - really fun and fun to combine with, for example Miffy Museum (really nice and well done) and/or it Railway Museum, see also a few blocks above)

WOPL

WOPL

It sounds fun: WOPL. But it does stand for something, of course: World of Play & Learning. In this new indoor playground, you can explore three worlds full of interactive play fun. Together with parents, grandparents, or a babysitter, children up to eight years old can explore the World of Water (catching fish, blowing bubbles), the World of Building (building towers, climbing), and the World of Art (painting, mixing colors). And for the adults, don't worry, there's a café for good coffee, lunch, snacks, or a drink to relax while the kids play some more. WOPL is an educational and fun adventure for all.

VROG

VROG

Where TunFun used to be, hidden under the Mr. Visserplein, you will find nowadays VROG. Particularly fun for slightly older children, who can enjoy themselves in the parkour/freerunning zone and on the trampolines. In addition to a 'normal' trampoline field, VROG has a jumping tower and airbag to practice somersaults, an 'air arena' and a 'bouncy' basketball and football field. After an hour (or two) of jumping, most kids are tired and satisfied. Real fanatics can even become a member and follow freerunning and 'combo' training.

WOW Family Center

WOW Family Center

The program WOW Family Center is not a standard indoor playground, although there is a small one indoor playgrounds with ball pit. At this small-scale center in Amsterdam South, children can follow all kinds of creative workshops. There are workshops for 'Little Makers' where the focus is on stimulating the senses in a playful way. All kinds of experiments are done in the 'Mini Professors' workshop. There are also workshops that you can participate in with your baby or toddler. Holiday camps are organized during school holidays and you can go to the Little Café, even when it is not a holiday, to drink coffee, chat with other parents (or not) and have lunch.

Jimmy's Play Paradise

Jimmy's Play Paradise

Jimmy's Play Paradise is the perfect place to celebrate a children's party without having to put in much effort as a parent. The only thing that could be difficult is collecting the children when it is time to return home, because here they have many different attractions that of course all have to be tested. Climbing castle, go-kart track, climbing tower and even a roller disco, Jimmy's got it all. Race Planet Amsterdam is located at the same address as Jimmy's Speelparadijs, where you can enjoy bowling, laser gaming and karting, among other things. Jimmy's is located near Sloterdijk station, and you can park for free in front of the door.

Playhood

Playhood

There are parents – we will not mention names – who will not force you to go to one indoor playground. In addition to an overstimulated child, you also get an overstimulated parent at home. We don't. There must be a better way, the two sisters thought Playhood. In the Houthavens they built a playground with the look of beautiful wooden toys, a café with the people of Restaurant Breda behind it, really good coffee from Cafe del Mar positive impact coffee and Goodhood Pizza where kids can play pizza chef. Everything has been thought about. This also means that you book a time slot of 90 minutes so that Playhood is not too full, remains clean and you can do something less stimulating after that time. Kids happy and parents happy.

Frolicdome

Frolicdome

In addition to the standard climbing equipment and ball pits, they have... Frolicdome (which also has a branch in Zaandam) in Amsterdam-Noord, a play volcano (without lava) and a tire slide (without water). The Darteldome is part of Family Active, where older children and parents can also enjoy a fun afternoon. Because let's be honest, waiting on a plastic chair until your child has finished eating does not necessarily fall into the category of fun Wednesday afternoon activities. You can decide for yourself whether trampolining and climbing do that, but it is certain that the option is there.

Candy Castle or Money Town

Candy Castle or Money Town

If you as a parent can't handle stimuli, stick to a visit to the aforementioned Playhood. If you can handle a lot, or you just want to be extra nice, you can consider joining candy castle of monkey town to step inside. Both as hysterical as the names suggest, both equally popular among the Amsterdam toddler population. Candy Castle is located in a restored monumental church where peace and cleanliness have made way for running children and sticky hands. The attractions are divided into several well-organized play zones, which provide a bit of order in the chaos. Monkey Town is a similar 'paradise', located in the Aker.

ballorig

ballorig

ballorig (with playgrounds throughout the country) and FunZone (in Aalsmeer) fall into the same category as Candy Castle and Monkey Town, but are slightly less intense. Perfect for a children's party. Let go of the herd of toddlers, and you won't see them again for the entire afternoon. Except to run to the table from time to time to introduce their new, newly made friends and to pour back a cup of diluted lemonade. Fun guaranteed.
