While you order another latte, your water rat happily floats in one of the inflatable pools. And that on top of the roof of a café where you can get a spot in the sun at any time of the day. Splashed out? Then you can let your mini loose on the amazing playground downstairs, which bears little resemblance to the standard collection of see-saw chickens we know today. We are of course talking about The Pavilion on Van Beuningenplein. This fine golden oldie in the Staatsliedenbuurt recently made a new start and has since been open seven days a week. The menu now consists less of Ottolenghi and more of average tapas and you can easily stop here for a drink. At the end of the afternoon, the same roof terrace becomes a real rooftop bar where you can enjoy a glass of rosé with the same ease. Or two. The Pavilion
