Always a wonderful place, but especially when it rains. Going to the sauna, reading a book in your room, eating and having drinks in the restaurant: we would know. And if the sun does show itself, you have all that nature and nice towns like Ommen close by.
Hidden in the village Diepenveen in Overijssel, in the middle of the green, you will find De Kleine Wildenberg Farm. This is your address for an authentic farm atmosphere and a moment of pure happiness. Each holiday home is different and has its own character, but they have one thing in common: peace, relaxation, chilling and relaxing. The decor is inviting, cozy and cozy. Buitenlust, Bosbries and Randmaere all have an outdoor fireplace, so it will be fun to light a fire.
Of course, Zwolle must also participate when we make such a list. Grand Hotel Wientjes (that hotel with the red awnings) is a household name in Zwolle and the surrounding area. The former mayor's house is only 250 meters from Zwolle station, which means you don't have to go out in the cold for too long before you arrive. And let's be honest, we would want to be here in winter just for the winter dishes on the menu of the associated restaurant W. Man oh man, a pumpkin strudel with goat cheese, sage and walnuts sounds delicious. Or how about a high tea at the hotel? You can then immediately hop into bed. In fact, it is always pleasant in the small-scale hotel: this is partly due to the Grand Café, which gives the feeling of a brown café and the very high level of service.
That you are at the Hotel de Keizerskroon in Apeldoorn It is clear that you can have a good time in the winter. That nice winter atmosphere starts when you enter the attractive lobby with a fireplace and ends at Paleis Het Loo, which is such an ideal outing for the dark days. In between we swim a lap in the associated swimming pool. The rooms were given a new look in 2023 and you can now sleep like a king: in a king-size bed and right next to Paleis Het Loo. Also with Château Holtmühle in Tegelen it is a pleasure to enjoy in winter. You will sleep here in a beautiful chateau just outside the pleasant city of Venlo. The nice Château is ksmall scale (only 66 rooms) and you can enjoy walking in the area. Being active is not black you can also dine for hours in the restaurant (in the old cellar vaults) or chill in the lobby by the cozy fireplace with a Limburg wine (you are there for a reason). Let winter come in Tegelen. Did we mention that the hotel has an indoor swimming pool, sauna and Turkish steam bath?
And on to the south, because what fun is Vaalsbroek Castle in Vaals? You can enjoy walking around the beautifully situated hotel and castle on an estate of 18 hectares in the picturesque Limburg hilly landscape. You can sleep very well there, but the other facilities are also very nice. Enjoy excellent dining in the à la carte restaurant In de Oude Watermolen with seasonal dishes. Etoile 31 – it breathes sun, sea and beach in a very clever way. The interior is far from cluttered and full, more like: what is needed is there and has been thought about. With a good dose of love and a sense of style. Nothing screams, everything lisps sweetly in your ear. Sounds very sweet, doesn't it? Just beautiful, just good.
The atmosphere is wonderfully friendly on the Zwier site. In addition to various beautiful accommodations, Zwier has a wood-fired hot tub and a sauna. Wonderful for some extra relaxation. On Sundays you also only check out at 16.00:XNUMX PM, so another extra lunch and extra time to take advantage of everything.
The circular harbor houses have a very unique view over the harbor, picture-perfect from your bed; really ideal for the dark, rainy winter days. All the comfort you need during a relaxing escape: a private bathroom with rain shower, sink and toilet, a lovely double bed and via a step you reach an extra single sleeping place on a raised mezzanine floor.
Maja's Hideaway is a glass lodge in a unique spot in the middle of the forest. You literally and figuratively feel immersed in nature here, whether you are outside or staying indoors. Because all the glass literally makes you wake up in the forest, immense? And on the small terrace you can see a perfect sunrise through the trees. Picture this: lots of wood, lots of cozy vintage elements and, above all, a cozy and warm decoration. We think it's very sweet.

We can tell you for that one joy of living and the fairytale picture does not have to cross the land border, as long as you book an overnight stay at De Havixhorst. You will find a good restaurant, wonderful and beautiful rooms and a wine cellar. Even if it rains for a week, you won't even notice it at Havixhorst.
A tiny house must also be practical. Harriet and Liselotte (also the (former) owners of the great place STEK in Amsterdam!) have thought about this carefully. There is a place for dirty shoes, smart closet spaces for your clothes and other stuff, they have blankets for chilly evenings, the nicest corner in the house is around the pallet fireplace (so cozy!) and there is also a BBQ for the winter BBQ. lovers. In short: beautiful interior, good sofa to chill on and of course that beautiful pallet fireplace, beautiful and nice and warm.
Stek's outdoor area is located almost next to the forest, so if it is not raining, it is also ideal for a walk around the block.
All four houses of Buitenhuys family have their own charm. Renovated, renovated or even completely designed by the family themselves and you can feel and see that in everything. Nice retreats, kitchens with everything on it, nice tableware, rugs and more coziness, in every house a nice sofa to cocoon in the evening, wood stoves, baths with a view over the fields. You can swim all year round, even in winter. And then of course you warm up in that wood stove.
In Gelderland (Joppe area), you will find Hut 16 bed, forest and wellness. You arrive at the 120 m2 large, detached, wooden forest hut via a dirt road. Owners Nans & Niels, together with daughters Liv & Indi, do their best to make visitors really feel at home. Alone, as a couple and as a family. This modern tree house is suitable for 2 to 5 people. On the ground floor there is a complete kitchen, large living room with lounge, 1 bedroom with aquarium box bed and a private wellness area. Upstairs there are 2 spacious bedrooms with 2 double beds. Outside there is a large terrace with a dining table, bath and a fire pit. Nice address in the middle of nature.
Actually exists Boshuisje Tonden from no fewer than three cabins. But, we are doing the designer of the beautiful house a disservice. No, Boshuisje Tonden is more like Villa Tonden. You will find peace, nature and luxury under the (sustainable!) roof of the retreat. However, with ten bedrooms there is enough space to bring a carefully selected group to experience peace, nature and luxury. The beds are from Auping, the windows reach the ceiling and there is a wonderful kitchen for the necessary self-sufficiency (but plenty to taste in the area). And no, we will not forget the stove - of course - with a sofa right in front of it that you will never want to get up from again. And further? Furthermore, you have nothing more than forest and trees around you and everything else the Veluwe has to offer. Step into a house that smells of wood and wake up among birdsong? That is possible at forest house Eden in Meijel (North Limburg). This site is located in a forest, surrounded by cozy wooden houses. This forest house is suitable for 1 to 4 people and has a private hot tub. There is also a spacious living room, kitchen, bathroom, two bedrooms and relaxation room. For the active ones among us: you can also enjoy walking and cycling. You walk straight into the forest. A nice place to completely relax together (or alone, that is also possible).
In the heart of the Veluwe, half hidden between the trees and surrounded by one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands, is the Weaver Lodge. A beautiful hotel, small and nice with its own bistro. Everything here revolves around the love of nature (you are really in the middle of it) and it is craftsmanship and quality that count. It seems a bit as if time has stood still; press pause and only do what you want.
The Wever Lodge also has two absolutely beautiful cottages: Cottage Geluk and Cottage Auping. Nice for yourself and your little one, with a private terrace with a view over all nature and a Weltevree stove to sit by until late at night.
Straight out of an interior design magazine, that is Studio Bosk in the woods of Gaasterland. The forest house is prettier than pretty and wonderfully spacious. Toys, a high chair and a crib have been arranged for the children. It's that the area is so beautiful, otherwise we would settle down by the wood stove and never go anywhere again. And that is exactly what happens when it rains.
