Run laps without even leaving the hotel. With views of São Jorge Castle in the distance, the downtown skyline at your feet, and on clear days, even a chance to see the Vasco da Gama Bridge.

Château St. Gerlach, Limburg

Château St. Gerlach, Limburg

No fancy fitness facilities, but plenty of motivation for ten here in Limburg. Situated on the edge of the Ingendael nature reserve, with rolling hills in the background, we don't call this setting "our own little piece of the world" for nothing. Indeed, you'll feel like you're in a fairytale on this stately Limburg estate, and you'll get a good workout in running here.

The surrounding area is wonderful. And relaxation? You can find it in the spa and wellness area. Restaurant Les Salons serves the most delicious dishes with local products from its own Wijland (carb loading (it works here!).

It's also wonderful to stroll around the estate and stretch your legs, as it's much larger than you might expect. Find your zen in the rose garden, check out all the different statues in front of the hotel, and there's a church, a vegetable garden, a vineyard, two restaurants, and plenty of surrounding greenery.

Camps Bay Retreat, Cape Town

Camps Bay Retreat, Cape Town

We could keep walking laps along the Cape Town promenade. We could head towards the lighthouse, and if we really want to go all out, we could head towards Chapman's Peak. We'd prefer to start at Camps Bay and walk towards the promenade and back. Nah, we don't feel like taking an Uber in the morning. We'd much rather stay in a hotel in the heart of the city. Camps Bay Retreat it is. More than central (hello: Camps Bay!) and yet more than hidden and unknown. Ha! That's right. That location is the best of both worlds: between the hustle and bustle of the restaurant strip and the beach of Camps Bay, but with Thanks to a sprawling four hectares of land surrounding the estate, there is ultimate tranquility – a rare find in this densely populated suburb.

The restaurant, also open to non-guests, is a cozy, atmospheric dining room with wood paneling that leads to a shaded terrace with stunning views. The lunch and dinner menu isn't extensive—chalmar cheeseburger, steaks, Thai curry, Asian-style pork belly, or one of the many salads—but it's well-prepared and delicious. There's a lovely large swimming pool, a tennis court, a spa, a restaurant, and walking paths; a garden gate leads directly onto Victoria Road (the road that runs along the coast) and everyone, absolutely everyone, is super friendly and enthusiastic.

Nature hotel Lüsnerhof

Nature hotel Lüsnerhof

For trail runners, Lüsnerhof is tucked away in the Lüsen Valley, where it's quiet. No ski lifts to disrupt the landscape, no mass tourism to disturb the tranquility. Only alpine meadows, forests, and mountain trails. Here, you tie your shoelaces in the morning with no plan other than: out, up, onward.

For forty years, Lüsnerhof has been a household name in the Dolomites and has been awarded the highest alpine distinction: five Mountain Crystals, for good reason. This is evident in everything, from their expert knowledge of the routes to the ease with which they drop you off at the most beautiful starting points. The Lüsner Alm, expansive, gently rolling, and windless, is practically at your feet and extends all the way to the Peitlerkofel in the Puez-Odle Nature Park.

Afterward? Shoes off, relax. Everything is taken care of: from route advice and transfers to places where you can rest, refuel, and recharge.
