Drinking coffee in Breda: this is the place to be
Welcome to Breda, where drinking coffee is a serious matter, but in the most charming way possible. In this city you will not only find very good ones coffee, but also plenty of places that make drinking it a lot more enjoyable. From hidden places to well-known ones hotspots, we list all the nice coffee places this city has to offer. Enjoy!
First things first and that is that such a coffee still tastes a portion better after a portion of effort. Now it is also going around that coffee after exercise helps muscle recovery. Drag your coffee date to the best boutique gym in the south. During the lessons of ML City in Breda (on the Gravinnen van Nassauboulevard) you go full throttle for three quarters of an hour to the best music. The lessons are designed in such a way that they remain interesting. During an ML Sweat or ML Cycle lesson you exercise in the dark, with neon lights and loud music. It is just like you are in the club and going out. But it can also be a bit more tranquillo during a pilates, yoga or barre lesson.
The choice of subscriptions is huge. The intro packages are the perfect way to get to know ML City. Book a trial lesson for just over ten euros or go all-in with a 7-day sprint and try out 7 classes in 7 days. Are you going more than twice a week? Then a membership is the most beneficial. An ML membership gives you access to all classes.
Anne&Max is the kind of place where you just know that everything is going well. Good coffee, great service, tasty food and all with a homely feeling. Anne&Max's living room is open to everyone every day, for those looking for peace and relaxation, for those who need to get away from their laptop, or for those who like to catch up with friends. Here you can find the tastiest breakfasts, lunches, cakes, even drinks and of course delicious coffee. Everything is purely natural and often organic, so good for you and for the planet. No time (or desire) to sit inside? They also have coffee-to-go with something tasty to-go.
More good coffee news: Anne & Max is no longer just on the Wilhelminastraat just outside the city center in Breda, but now has a beautiful new location on the Veemarktstraat! A three-minute walk from the Grote Markt, so it can't get much more central. Expect the Anne&Max hits here: good coffee, the dream croissant, a well-filled acai bowl and tasty juices. And more of course, but you'll have to read the entire menu for that.
The branch on Veemarktstraat is open an hour longer (until 18:00 PM), which is also an advantage!
Since 2016 you can join Jop and his coffee bar Sowieso. He fell in love with black gold while touring Columbia. Jop worked on a coffee plantation for 90 days and then worked in various coffee shops in Amsterdam, but after doing this for a while, it was high time for his own coffee bar in his own town of Breda. The beans are still roasted in Amsterdam, so every Monday he drives back and forth for fresh beans. Real love for the business, from Jop.
At Chatwick Coffee Roasters, located on the Nieuwe Ginnekenstraat, you can enjoy delicious coffee and homemade pastries, including warm croissants and chocolate rolls. The absolute highlight here is the pistachio cruffin, a combination of a croissant and muffin, filled with the tastiest pistachio cream. This cozy spot, located in a beautiful 30s corner building, is above all a... must visit for the home baristas among us, because you can also buy good home-roasted coffee beans here.
At Sip First, located on Sint Janstraat, is the place to be if you fancy a relaxed atmosphere. It is the place where everyone comes together, whether you want to catch up with a friend, find a place to study or work, or just enjoy a coffee with a view. Here you not only enjoy delicious coffees, but they also offer coffee workshops to teach you how to become a (home) barista yourself.
Kamu, located on Boschstraat, is notable on this list. Kamu combines coffee with something unique, namely… cycling. It may sound random, but it creates a versatile atmosphere. You can enjoy delicious coffees here, but you can also get advice about (racing) bicycles and repairs. Here you can also score delicious coffee beans for home use. They know exactly which beans you want based on what you like.
Koffie bij Teun started as a tiny coffee shop, but has now been located in the De Barones shopping center for a while. We like to sit here on a rainy or cold day, or between shopping trips. With the same owner as Sip First, you know you can count on a good cup of coffee here. A nice concept here is the bar's livestream, where you can watch the barista prepare your coffee.
