LandClub Ruinen Drenthe

Sleeping in a tent was something we once only did at festivals. Until a little one came along and then we reinvented a well-running wheel; camping. Previously, you had to go on a camping trip well prepared, prepared and strategic. Nowadays you can easily travel to several places with just your toothbrush, clean underwear and your swimsuit. Sort of. LandClub Ruinen in Drenthe is such a place. A very nice campsite with camping spots - duh! - and all the convenience of playgrounds, a restaurant and a swimming pool. And - for the non-camping pros among us - LandClub Ruinen has beautiful cottage, safari tents, lodges and a real tree house. Completely ready to plop down with just a small bag and completely unload in the open air.

A night, weekend or week in nature is a blessing, especially for those who live in the city. Walking out the (tent) door and straight into the fields is not for everyone. This is possible at the always pleasant campsite. LandClub Ruinen is located in Drenthe in the middle of the fields, within cycling distance of a cozy village with restaurants and actually has enough entertainment on its own grounds to not have to go "outside".

Watching cows, petting ponies, swimming, walking, staring unashamedly into space and - if there are kids with you or you have some energy to waste yourself - endlessly romping in the playgrounds. Nothing is required, everything is allowed. And if you want to venture a little further, there are: many nature reserves found in the area. So you can take those walking shoes or rubber boots in the bag.

If you like to stay in your own tent, trailer tent or camper, you can of course find a nice spot. But if you like a little more comfort - read: a real bed and your own bathroom - and/or you need less lugging, then LandClub Ruinen also has plenty of choice. We are – you can already feel it coming – of the latter kind. Because we prefer to skip carrying things wherever possible and there is no storage space for camping equipment in our city home. So we stayed in one of the luxury lodges. Which are also available in the winter months.

These insulated tents still have the tent feeling, but with separate bedrooms, a stove and a nice kitchenette. Cozy is the right word. But as we walked past we thought the safari tents, cottages – which look a bit like Swedish houses – and the Drenthe hoods looked just as cozy.

Oh how we enjoyed escaping the city for a few days. May we come again in winter, LandClub Geldings?
