Italo disco

Italo disco

The name says it all: at Italo Disco, it's all about freshly made Italian sandwiches and a healthy dose of disco. And yes, we mean that literally: a giant disco ball on the ceiling and that cheerful, exuberant disco vibe everywhere. We're fans. Right, back to those sandwiches, because they are truly absurdly delicious. Our recommendation? The eggplant sandwich. The sandwiches are perfect. to go, but you can also just hang out at the high bar by the window for a relaxed lunch. Whatever you do, be sure to order matcha or coffee with it (surprise: those are great too).

Ali's Lebanese Incredible Sandwiches

Ali's Lebanese Incredible Sandwiches

We've been told that for the very best falafel in The Hague, you have to go to Ali's. And we would even go so far as to label Ali's the ultimate vegetarian and vegan hotspot in The Hague. What do we order ourselves? The Ali's wrap is definitely a top favorite, richly filled with, among other things, that famous falafel, homemade hummus, and eggplant. Perfect for a grab-and-goDo you want to sit down and relax for a bit? Then the various mezze options are really delicious and also the most fun. Not vegetarian or vegan? Then Ali's might not sound that appealing, but give it a chance anyway.

Haley's Comet

Haley's Comet

On to that other nice street in The Hague: the Piet Heinstraat. Haley's Comet is located there and we can only say that this place rocks. Unlike other restaurants, Haley's is the place with one twist. Queer, pub quizzes, street food specials, expos and open mics. But you can also sit comfortably at Haley's for a 'regular' lunch. The menu features buns, bagels, bowls, pancakes and waffles. All generously topped, so you can roll home.

Bread from Bro

Bread from Bro

During the pandemic, we all started learning to play new instruments and starting running clubs. The guys from Brood van Bro tackled boredom just a little differently. They decided to learn how to bake bread, and in no time at all, this became Brood van Bro. A place where everyone is welcome to come and enjoy Alexander and Bas's baked goods. What are we ordering? Well, there are excellent sandwiches and very tasty pizzas, but our favorite is the kimchi croissant, from the pastriesHighly recommended. And did we mention that the terrace is super sunny? So it's a lovely place to spend lunch (or breakfast, that works too). It's not difficult to get there. It's right in the city center.

JuYi Ramen

JuYi Ramen

Every city deserves at least one good ramen spot. And The Hague has it all figured out. JuYi Ramen is a real mini-place (read: 12 seats) on the Prins Hendrik. Small but mighty. And this mini-place comes with a mini menu. Here, you choose from just four dishes, all featuring ramen. And the choice for drinks is very simple too: you order a soft drink or Japanese beer that pairs perfectly with the ramen. Oh, and as long as you finish everything, you can ask for a very large portion for the same price. Do note, however: all dishes contain meat, so vegetarians are in the wrong place here. Otherwise, we would recommend everyone pop in here sometime.
