The better breakfast with coffee in Haarlem (also for very early birds)

We like to have breakfast in Haarlem at the Spaarne, in the cozy streets in the city center or in Haarlem North. You're in the right place at these breakfast places in Haarlem: breakfast in Haarlem. Where you can go for a delicious Sunday breakfast, even if it is not Sunday. And yes, also for very early birds!

Visiting Haarlem? There is so much to like. Starting with this nice one, new restaurants and shops.

Pip Deli

Pip Deli

For a delicious, indulgent breakfast, coffee, cake, and aperitifs, head to Pip Deli. They also serve Turkish eggs and a superb steak sandwich (to name just a few of the items on the menu). Pip is open Wednesday through Sunday. From generously filled sandwiches to (vegan) granola bowls and pancakes, you'll find yourself back several times a week. Add to that the beautiful interior and lovely, sunny terrace, and you'll find yourself dining there several times a week!

Corridor / Metzlr House

You can enjoy a "hotel-style" meal at Menu Corridor, the restaurant at the Metzlr House hotel. Restaurant Menu Corridor, located at the former Koepelgevangenis (domed prison), had been open for a few years and was a hit. Now, with the newly completed hotel next door, breakfast is also available. Croissants, banana pancakes, French toast and eggs In several ways. Fancy a boozy breakfast? Mimosas and espresso martinis are ready for you.

Hazel

Hazel

Right in the heart of the city center on the Gedempte Oude Gracht, you'll find a charming little breakfast and lunch spot called Hazel. It's owned by the same people as Toast. Their menu includes bowls, sandwiches, and sweet options. Hazel offers indoor seating and, weather permitting, a few outdoor tables. It's open from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Le Petit Café

Le Petit Café

Those who sleep late – because it is open from 10.00 a.m. – can have breakfast in the stylish Le Petit Café. Like a French bistro on the Gedempte Oude Gracht. The menu also includes French breakfast classics: from croissants to... croques en eggs. When the weather is nice you can sit outside and have a newspaper ready for you. Eating breakfast at Le Petit Café feels like an elegant breakfast outing in Paris.

Toast

Toast

Breakfast all day every day. If that is your motto, Toast is the place for you. This sweet little place in the Kleine Houtstraat serves toasts, breakfast bowls, croissants and delicious fluffy pancakes. And that all day long. If it is cold, you can sit comfortably inside and if the weather is nice you can take a seat on the terrace on the shopping street side or in the chilled garden.

Cleeff

Cleeff

We definitely pass by a few times a month Cleeff on the Kleverparkweg. A corner café where it is often pleasantly busy, but rarely too busy. Sometimes we just order a latte to go, but we often stay in one of the vintage seats inside or outside on the sunny terrace. And now 023 has another Cleeff, with the same specialty coffee and an equally nice lunch menu. The popular café opened a second branch in the Frans Hals Museum in the colorful style of the museum. The door is also very open to non-museum visitors and when the sun comes out, this is one to remember; You can enjoy yourself under a parasol in the completely renovated courtyard.

Hare of the Dog

Hare of the Dog

You will also find this accessible business right in the center. Hare of the Dog is a brunch place and is everything you would expect: with richly filled dishes. If you have breakfast, brunch or lunch here - the difference is never completely clear - then one dish is enough for the rest of the morning and afternoon. Pancakes, French toast, eggs (royale, benedict, florentine), wraps, salads, sandwiches. Can you choose? We don't anymore with all those goodies.

By Lima

By Lima

Sagittarius! Breakfast all day! By Lima says so itself and this is very nice because it means shamelessly sleeping through the day, and then still being able to sit down as if it were early morning is. Top. In addition, By Lima is just as beautiful (see the Insta) and uncomplicated as Native (also in Haarlem, you can read more about that here) with the difference that At By Lima it's really about breakfast, lunch, brunch and cake (at Native it's just a little more about good coffee and tea and so on). Besides, By Lima is your man (sort of speaking of course) in Haarlem for your tastiest vegan meal.

In April 2026, a new business with the same owner, Flore, will open across the street.

Frenchie

Frenchie

Frenchie is truly one of those places for the whole day, every day. From early till late. Cozy corners for long hangouts, good coffee (Coffee & Coconuts), An juice bar with incredibly delicious fresh juices (really fresh, not that fake fresh one - I always have a really bad appetite), sweet cookies and cake and a healthy lunch with attention to the tasty, slightly less healthy cravings that cause choice stress. Oh, you've already left. Please read here first to find out what else we have to say about it Frenchie Haarlem!

Spaarne 66

Spaarne 66

Waking up at the Spaarne, staring out over the water, that is possible at (among others) Spaarne 66. See there under lunch: Liège waffles and French toast. And you want those French toast. Spaarne66 is run by mother and daughters and the family is so warm and friendly, for that reason alone you go to Spaarne66.

Teds Haarlem

Where Café Martinus used to be, you now have brunch all day long with french toast on - why not? – champagne.

TEDS already went really well in Utrecht, The Hague and Amsterdam and the caravan is now thundering on to 023. You can have brunch all day long in a lovely spot on the water. Also keep it in mind for high tea.

The Teylertje

The Teylertje

Near Spaarne 66 and Wolkers, and also near one of the most beautiful spots in Haarlem (hello views from the terrace!) is Café t' Teylertje. Former café Margaux, but have changed the name back to what the name honors, namely the Teyler museum. A café, that's what it is, for the whole day. Delicious croissants and coffee to start the day, homemade cake for a snack, rich (very rich!) sandwiches, soup for lunch and you can also end your day with a glass of wine.
