I don't think I've ever received so many DMs asking for tips during our vacation before. So there you go. 2 posts in one day: sending Essaouira to everyone as well.
And since I always have to look up exactly how to spell that myself, a raise of your hand 🙋🏼♀️ will suffice for the links to our accommodations and a digital (Google) map (that map contains all the links to the accommodations where we unfortunately couldn't stay because they were full, but we did visit them and they are now on the wishlist 💛)
Essaouira is lighter, fresher, smaller, less hectic and busy than Marrakech, and has so many great spots! Including pottery and painting, because when life gives you Morocco… ;).
(Plus: there is a really nice Marrakech guide in the shop (bartsboekjetravelguides.com or bartsboekje.com/shop): I will give this a small update as soon as possible, but it is actually already 95% up to date and the Google Maps that goes with the Guide is 100% (because I used it last week and updated it).
Few places are more beautiful than Marrakech. We stayed at @themellah_marrakech (among others) and it was more than lovely. 24 hours well spent in a small part of the city? The Mellah, lunch around the corner at Rosemary or La Famille, and the evening at Flowers (also nearby). The rest of the day – naturally – strolling through the medina ♥️

An autumn holiday in Morocco is really a top tip. We are just over halfway through our trip: Marrakech -> Afagay Desert -> Essaouira -> Marrakech.
We booked a car, things to do, and accommodations in different price ranges (I always find this a good tip: that way you can sometimes really splurge instead of sticking to everything in the middle) (everything via @bookingcom, including flights and transport, because they are always nice places and, above all, easy to plan via one app).
Reply with 'Marrakech' for the links to the first part of our trip (the city and the desert) ♥️ More to come!
Save. It!
Yes, that’s an order ;-), but really, the Swiss Bettmeralp is a huge tip: the most idyllic mountain village I have ever been to. It is car-free and accessible only by mountain lift (three of them, in fact). Hotel Panorama is ski-in ski-out (literally), and those with a room at the front are treated to a breathtaking sunrise. It doesn't get more child-friendly than this: the only 'danger' is the occasional skier. Otherwise, they can play everywhere yet have nowhere to go in the small village.
