New: Restaurant Miyagi and Jones Utrecht
A new one in Utrecht for Asian Streetfood, Sushi, delicious G&Ts and an unashamed amount of incredibly delicious food and drinks. Miyagi and Jones is the name, restaurant Miyagi and Jones.
To get to Miyagi and Jones Utrecht, you walk out of the station in the 'wrong direction' at Utrecht Central Station. Not towards the cozy old town with the cute mini streets, but towards the offices and the Beatrix Theater. Where you thought there was nothing fun to be found. Wrong! Miyagi and Jones is truly a welcome addition to this part of town. At Miyagi and Jones, Asian food is prepared with a Western twist. Very nicely prepared. And a lot. More about that in a moment.
First of all, upon arrival you walk straight into the terrace of Miyagi and Jones. The first plus because what is a restaurant without a terrace to sit outside? Let's get straight to plus point number 2: the restaurant is huge on the inside. Nice, since the weather in the Netherlands is miserable nine times out of ten. Plenty of seating areas too: at the bar, near the open kitchen or at the back at spacious tables. The design has an Asian feel: sleek with lots of black, wood and metal, which is emphasized by the colorful murals full of signs, maneki nekos (you-know-what, those beckoning kittens) and other types of images. Let's get to the next part, or actually; the next plus: the service. What a nice guy! Kudos. The staff members all know how to chat and tell stories, but in the right proportions, without it becoming annoying, but rather remaining very pleasant.
And then of course what you came for: the food.

The choice is huge. Not to be done. There are 65 dishes on the menu. -Tjes because we are talking about small dishes to share. With a three-course menu you choose from six dishes (note: 2 dishes per person per course) which are served at the chef's discretion. Those dishes are not the least and after a course and a half you could already say that it was nice. Nothing could be further from the truth... Keep them coming. And so it happened. Nomnom. Some dishes are even tastier than others. The Peking duck is a favorite, in addition to the delicious fresh sushi and sashimi. Genuinely of the better quality (and we sometimes taste some). By all means, drink one sparkling sake bee. Yes. Sake prosecco. Or cava. Sort of. That's what it comes down to. Again: DELICIOUS. Maybe a little sweet at first, but after a few sips that's completely okay. Were we there again - Miyagi and Jonesplus number 4.
In case you're wondering, yes, that name obviously comes (obviously, of course...) from the movie Karate Kid. To be honest, we've never seen it either, but we were told. And so accept it as truth. The name has been slightly adjusted because the concept required a Western sauce to be added and that is the & Jones part. Just had to be mentioned. Oh well, give the animal a name, we are fans. See you soon, when we are hungry again! Miyagi and Jones Utrecht
