Between the famous Markthal, the Laurenskerk and a number of skyscrapers you will find the first urban wave pool ever: Ref 010. This project had been on Rotterdam's agenda for years. In 2013, Edwin van Vliegen, with a passion for surfing, came up with the idea to make wave surfing accessible to all Rotterdam school children. This is how the surfing spot came into being in the middle of the city, near the Grote Markt. The surfing spot is not only intended for experienced surfers, the installation can be adapted to the level and ages of the surfers.

All that surfing will make you hungry, but don't worry: at the beach bar Surfbar & Kitchen you've come to the right place. Here you can go for breakfast, lunch, drinks and dinner. And of course with a view of the surfers. So plenty of entertainment and maybe even a little schadenfreude.
