Scharrels and Schuim, Rotterdam
In Amsterdam it has been a 'thing' for a while, but in the meantime the people of Rotterdam have also discovered Betere Kipkluiven. Not that it is completely new, mind you, in Rotjeknor, but the trendy chickens are really starting to pop up now (only now). One of the nicest new recommendations is Scharrels en Schuim, a title that does not leave much to the imagination, although on the second floor of the shop it is not the beer glasses but the gin bottles that clink. The high, train compartment-esque seats that are divided over two floors are reminiscent of a wooden version of the new, pink-green branch of the Parisian PNY (recommended for citizens). In Rotterdams forty chickens are hanging at the same time to cook in the rotisserie and there is also Thai chicken soup, a wrap filled with grilled chicken thighs and barbecue sauce, a portion of kippeling, caesar salad and for after going out: kipsalon, the counterpart of the well-known kapsalon on the menu. There is also a terrace and we are promised a BBQ in the summer. Scharrels and Foam
