Here you can get the tastiest sourdough in Zwolle
It is not always easy to get your sourdough outside the Randstad cravings to come. You won't find shops full of sourdough here (yet). For that we just go to the market or pop into the local shops. Brood van de Haan bakes many tasty treats that can be found at the markets around Zwolle, including delicious sourdough bread. In addition to sourdough, they also bake focaccia and the tastiest snacks such as granola.
How wonderful it is when everything fits in a baker's story. Dave de Haan has such a story. Last year he built a real bakery on his parents-in-law's property and is busy conquering Zwolle and the surrounding area with his artisanal bread.
Sounds simple: crispy crust, fluffy inside. But we all know by now that a good sourdough doesn't roll out of the oven without some practice. Dave has studied it in various cases and to be honest: he is good at it. With his Bread of the Rooster he makes loaves, pastries (hello gingerbread butter cake!) and others treats as are now famous chocolate granola. Ohhh so delicious: his focaccia specials. Think crunchy kale and aged cheese. Or with thin slices of potato and onion.
Once a month (the third Saturday to be precise) Dave is at the farmers market in Vilsteren – a cute village between Zwolle and Ommen. We now know locals It is easy to find and is often sold out within a few hours. While you are at the market, walk past the stall at the Heileuver farm for a delicious cheese.
Visiting the baker's in-laws? Unfortunately, that is not possible. Dave bakes there early in the morning and then delivers his delicacies to all kinds of sales places in and around Zwolle. You can buy his bread at the Plukkerij. A great place where you can also pick seasonal vegetables and herbs straight from the vegetable garden.
