A Bar Amsterdam (@Amstel Hotel)
It seems, it may seem, a high threshold grab a terrace on the terrace of it Amstel Hotel. Seems. Because if you ignore that high threshold, you will find one of the most delicious terraces in the city right there at the Amstel on the Amstel (itself a little above the Amstel). With dot. Without (too much) fuss. The terrace and the associated bar right behind it - a light white-cream-light blue-colored space full of modern art - was A Bar baptized. Ee-bar or Aa-bar, both are allowed. You get there via the main entrance of the Amstel Hotel, which - let's be honest - is still quite a lot of fun. Chic. After all, the hotel is an icon of Amsterdam. The red carpet has been worn down from the steps of international celebrities who walked and then slept there, but that's besides the point. Once inside the beautiful white marble hall with ditto staircase, the concierge will give you a friendly welcome. Then turn right to the back, towards the balcony and you've arrived A Bar where you plop down on - restore: you are sitting in it, you are in the Amstel - one of the white-light-blue-gray benches and seats right on the platform, floating above the Amstel with a view over the water and canal houses. Anyways, 10 points for the entourage. And then we haven't even talked about A Bar's drinks menu. That's impressive: first of all, it is completely inspired by Amsterdam and its eight boroughs. This then produces cocktails that you can't wait to enjoy and a snack board with both bitterballen (kudos, never not bitterbal, also in the Amstel) as well as vegetables with hummus dip and delicious hams and cheeses. Everything oh so delicious. Bonus: mooring your boat, no matter how small and inconspicuous, is possible and allowed. Just call in advance and the more than nice, friendly and pleasant staff at A Bar will ensure that everything runs smoothly.
