5x coffee in Essaouira
When you think of Essaouira, coffee is probably not the first thing you think of. If you have been strolling through the narrow streets full of souks and atmosphere for a while, a coffee break is not a bad idea. Therefore a list of 5x coffee in Essaouira.
And we did not write that list alone, but in collaboration with Titia, owner of Riad Petite Reverie.
Mandala Society is located on the main street of the old Medina. The place is small but nice with wooden signboards, tables made of scaffolding wood and scaffolding wooden shelves filled with books and games on the wall. You can go there all day long fair trade coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner. They don't have meat, but they do have fish.
An ode to the African roots and the culture of the Gnawa where travelers and locals can come together to drink coffee and exchange stories. That's what the owners of Café L'Esprit wanted to realize when they opened their doors in 2021. Three years later we can confirm that this has been achieved. Plenty of books to be found in this one community space, just in case your local neighbor doesn't have much of interest to say.
In his own words “the most instagrammable coffee shop of Essaouira”. Or the most instagrammable tent is we dare not say, but instagrammable is Bonzo Coffee Shop Certainly. The white tiled bar features a mint green Aviator coffee machine and the terrace has steel tables and chairs in the same mint green color. The Coffee Shop has a good interior, good coffee and good merch. If you need something stronger than coffee, you can also order a mojito here.
At Khawa Café trumpets hang from the old ceiling beams. You sit on authentic benches or stools (high tables for Dutch giants are also available), hidden in a small street in the Medina. Jazzy atmosphere, Andalusian tapas and, of course, coffee. No more words needed.
KeshCup (kech, not kech, we also had to read twice) is a sweet, nice and cute little shop in the Medina. If you sit at the bar, you are almost outside. If you sit on one of the two bar stools at the French doors (to which shelves that serve as a table are attached), you are almost at the bar. So enjoy a nice coffee. Or a mojito, because it is also on the menu here.
