NYMA Nijmegen: the industrial hotspot

Anyone walking along the Waalkade and heading west sees the horizon of Nijmegen slowly change. The raw, industrial character of the site along the Waal has received a significant upgrade thanks to a collection of creative entrepreneurs who have transformed the area. At the NYMA site, that rugged history and a modern, hip vibe now come together effortlessly. With the iconic water tower as a beacon, this has become the beating creative heart of the city.

An absolute eye-catcher on the grounds is DropThis panoramic bar is located at the top of the water tower, and you notice that immediately from the view. From here, you look out over the entire industrial site and the Waal. It is a bright, modern spot that combines the raw feel of the factory hall with a sleek finish. Pull up a chair here for a good glass of wine at the bar while watching the sun set beneath De Oversteek.

At the base of the water tower has Pizza Café Desem They have found their place. Desem is an old familiar face in town, but they have since traded their familiar spot for this location on the NYMA grounds. Here, everything revolves around—as the name suggests—sourdough, but in the form of excellent wood-fired pizzas. Additionally, you can also come here for their famous bagels.

Primitive Soup Brewpub

Primitive Soup Brewpub

For those who love local beer, it is Primitive Soup Brewpub A logical stop. Although you sit literally among the brewing kettles inside, on sunny days it is best to settle down on the terrace. With your feet almost in the Waal, you look out over the river and the passing ships from the long tables. The atmosphere is down-to-earth and uncomplicated. You order a (home-brewed!) beer at the bar and find a spot outside in the sun.
