Popolo: the new favorite for your lunch in The Hague
Bam! Just opened and already totally hot and happening: Popolo in The Hague. It can hardly have escaped your notice, but the team behind our favorite in The Hague (BartineSo now ) is also opening a sandwich shop. The place on the Herengracht is more than we had dared to dream. Freshly baked focaccia with both classic toppings and original newcomers. We will be back.
When you think of The Hague, you think of Bartine. After all, it is quite difficult to spend a day in The Hague without picking up something tasty at their branch in the city centre or in the Zeeheldenkwartier. Not unimportant: there is always a line there, because many locals also love to get delicious fresh sourdough bread or divine pastries.
We’ve already heard the rumors, but the team behind Bartine is up for new things. Behind the scenes, they have been working hard on a sandwich shop: Popolo. A place where you can sit down and munch on your favorite – generously topped – focaccia, or where you can take your sandwich with you into town.
The interior is minimalist, which we don't know from Bartine, and with that, Popolo has a completely different feel. vibe than its big brother and sister. Our recommendations? For the vegetarians among us, you absolutely go for the parmigiana di melanzane, but for the meat eaters, you can't skip the BLT; it's so delicious they make it at Popolo. Yummy.
