For fish lovers: The Marlin Bar on Van Baerlestraat in Amsterdam

From the team that also made us happy with Café Garçon, Brasserie Margaux, Williams Farmhouse en Ludwig's Deli opened The Marlin Bar in Amsterdam. It's hard to miss, situated on the corner of Van Baerlestraat and Wouternaerstraat: the bright orange chairs on the terrace immediately catch the eye.

As the name suggests, it's all about fish here. Think oysters, Caesar salad with anchovies, tuna steak, scallops, and of course, a classic mussel dish. Vegetarian and meat options are also on the menu, but let's be honest: you'll definitely find something to your liking here if you love fish.

The wine list? A comprehensive fifteen-page booklet. Downstairs, you'll immediately understand why: the wine cellar is a feast for the eyes. Don't feel like browsing? Start with a glass of bubbly and then effortlessly move on to the Rijk's 2023 Chenin Blanc—a very good choice.

The interior, designed by Investor (also responsible for the beautiful interiors of the aforementioned establishments) demonstrates a strong sense of craftsmanship. The decor has a nautical feel: warm fabrics, mahogany, and marble accents. Everything just that little bit extra. Impeccably designed, down to the last detail – even the bathroom is a beauty, with the finest soaps from Zielinski & Rozen.

A place for a leisurely meal, but also great for a quick lunch stop or to relax at the bar with a cocktail and a bite. Don't forget the fries: perfectly golden brown, thin, crispy, and inside. no time us.
