• Skate cafe. A new concept in North. There is space, there are good people, and there is no hassle. By the way, it is just around the corner from Taqueria Coba, Tula Cantina en Oedipus Brewing That's always good too, and with a bit of weather, the street is full of nice people here.
• Northern Lights Cafe. Still fun (and still there!). Not only is the food here sustainable, but the interior is also constructed from (as much as possible) natural and recycled materials! There is often a live band or jam sessions.
• Cafe Keppler. Cocktails, bubbles by the glass and a very cozy atmosphere. Add a sandwich from your own bakery and even your esma (espresso martini, you know that one, right?) is made with home-roasted coffee!
• Spotk. Relax on the bean bags or at a picnic table. Your weekend can't get off to a bad start at this wonderful spot on the IJ. Lots of specialty beers and fun.
• Coffee of Ceuvel. Cool-underground-The atmosphere on the water is German. And vegan!

• Fonteyn. On the Nieuwmarkt. No brainer.
• Café de Linden. Where for years the tick shady Café de Zon closed, Café de Linden opened, and that is exactly where you want to be on Friday for a simply good beer and a bar snack.
• EnteActually a bit the same as Café de Linden, only the focus here is slightly more on really good food. A fan of both.
• Cafe Thijssen. Quiz evenings, Ajax matches on the big screen and the occasional jazz evening. Café Thijssen is simply very pleasant.
• Duende Dos. Okay, more food than Friday afternoon drinks, but nicely in the budget category and a superb start to your weekend.
• Cafe R. de Rosa. no brainer for a glass of wine, a boiled egg, and a good conversation.

• Bar Shaffy. Ramses' bar on the Vijzelgracht
• MeyerFor with the hockey club (but fun)
• Hannekes Boom. An undiscovered place? Certainly not. A golden old one for Friday night? Of course. They have a changing menu (always with something nice for vegetarians) and you can order pitchers if it is busy and you are not that patient.
• Sluyswacht. Or on the water or on the small square that overlooks the Jodenbreestraat. The always-good snack with a drink makes this an excellent free-mibo spot. The audience is also a pleasant mix of local people, students and tourists.
• Café de Jaren. Here the winner is the hidden terrace at the back of the building. Looking out over the canals and all the boats passing by, it is always good to have a drink, especially with a bit of sun.
• Café Captain & Co. Striped awnings, small but nice terrace and just on a corner, away from the busy Nieuwmarkt. The prices are still very fair, only the wine glasses could use an update (although it does feel very nostalgic, a small, low glass that your grandmother still has in the cupboard).
• Captain Zeppos. A bit hidden in a side alley of the Kuiperssteeg, but once found it will forever be on your mind, because it is hysterically and colorfully decorated (in the right way). You get a bit of a French bistro feeling from the food menu, but the decor is more like a cozy carnival.
• Cafe Hoppe. The ultimate place to have a drink after work. Beer, wine and bitterballen. You know it. The perfect spot for making new contacts and friends!
• Bar Do. To see and be seen (but here too: it is fun).

Also nice/convenient/good not to forget: a really nice place that is easy to reach by public transport, for tunnels & bridges coming into the city and/or when it is pouring. In that category: Ceintuur Theater Amsterdam.

Right opposite De Pijp metro station, you will find an iconic former movie theater. Where you used to find Coffee & Coconuts, now sits Belt Theater, an all-day Rotisserie restaurant. Rotisserie? That’s meat that cooks slowly on a spit, keeping it juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Aha. Simple, but just right. Exactly what a Friday afternoon calls for. Chef Atti de Moll (formerly of Lars, among others) deliberately opts for an accessible and Burgundian style. Simplicity and Mediterranean flavors. Think: Basque chicken from Lindenhof, ribeye, ravioli, and cauliflower for the veggie lover. During the day, pull up a chair for shakshuka, eggs, or hearty sandwiches like porchetta or a pumpkin sandwich. And a cozy drink, too. Belt Theater

• Vondeltuin. Just for the spritz hours do you want to come here? A lovely garden in a park, where you are assured of lots of greenery, cocktails and a nice drinks menu.
• Schinkelhaven. Nice terrace, cozy indoor area, a games cupboard and on some days a pub quiz (not on Friday afternoon of course). Schinkelhaven at the Vondelpark is a wonderful neighborhood café, which is also a great place to go if you don't live around the corner.
• Ghent on the Schinkel. A large terrace on the corner of the street and on the water. Here you can easily sit down with a (large) group of friends for a cold beer after a long day at work. Only a two-minute walk from Schinkelhaven, so terrace shopping is guaranteed.
• Bar Hendrik. Small bites and cava on Olympiaplein. A nice terrace outside, but also very cozy inside. (PS: take a seat at the bar inside. Not a wooden butt of a bar stool, but the nicest Velvet stools). Need we say more?

• The Beer Garden. The terrace is a favourite here, even in the colder months, thanks to the large parasols and heaters that really give off enough heat. What once started as a beer paradise has now grown into a full-fledged restaurant - although the beer menu remains impressive of course. On the menu? More than enough choice of beer, nice wines and really tasty snacks. Think of classics such as brisket, brisket bun, ribs and corn-fed chicken - perfect for sharing (or keeping for yourself). It is almost always busy and full here, so if you are with a larger group, you will have to work your elbows. P.s. they have a location on the Prinsengracht and in West at the Mercatorplein.
• Bar Botanique. You can find it almost on the Javastraat. Inside it is green, green and more green with plants everywhere (what's in a name) and if you don't make it to the Friday afternoon drinks here: lunch is also a good time to join us (the Croque Monsieur is good and filling: we couldn't finish it). Side note: there is a new menu, just saying.
• Bar Bukowski. This gem is located at the Oosterpark. Cocktails galore, but also the perfect spot for a beer or wine.
• Louie Louie. Opposite the Tropenmuseum is Louie Louie, you may already know it. A large terrace, good menu and lots of atmosphere.
• Café Kuijper. Flammkuchen, nachos, lots of snacks (we love them) and a wide selection of drinks. A very cozy café, where you are guaranteed to enjoy your weekend.
