Restaurant The Siren, Amsterdam

Amsterdam is, of course, bursting at the seams with minimalist coffee shops and spartan (natural wine) bars... And as is the case with "too much," we've pretty much seen it all (with the truly excellent exceptions). Honestly? We're feeling exuberant again. Oh, and we don't want complicated meals to share—you'll leave your plate alone, and we'd like to understand what we're eating again. thank you very much. Plus: it has to be good, that goes without saying. Anyway, who's on our team regarding all of the above mag The Siren in Amsterdam put on his list. A restaurant 3 x rollers from Amsterdam Central Station (very convenient) that absolutely does not excel in subtlety, but rather goes all out with a lot of glitter and GlamWE LOVE. A serious bar, but in a rather over-the-top way: it's impossible not to be impressed the moment you walk in. Anyway, not modest at all, but very cool indeed. Oh, and for anyone looking for a salt-crusted sea bass – here it is.

We'll get back to the menu shortly, but anyone who enters The Siren cannot (and will not) ignore the interior of the insane restaurant. Print college Everywhere, luxurious details, large mirrors, sparkling glasses, and a bar that resembles a work of art. You immediately enter a sophisticated lounge where literally everything is quite over the top, and that works wonders. Coat and bag in the cloakroom (so much nicer than being crammed over your chair) and the Maître d' walks with you to your table. Oohs and aahs along the way, not a dull moment, and once you arrive at your table, another 10-point moment: finally, a place where you're not sitting on the neighbor's lap. And then the fun hasn't even begun: you're immediately seated at the table. press for champagne button pointed at your table. Tried and tested: He works. The champagne cart is fantastic, and the finest champagnes are available by the glass (Ruinard is our all-time favorite). Prefer a cocktail? That's also great: there's a carefully curated cocktail menu: classics with a touch of irony and creative gems.

We also have to talk about the food, of course: we're enthusiastic about that too: the Langoustine Cappuccino is a must (really!), and there's a selection of oysters and caviar to start with – you see, The Siren isn't a place for a quick bite, nor is it for those looking for a modest dinner. Nope, you reserve a table for when you really want to go out again. High-heeled and well-packaged. Okay, back to the menu: yes, for the open handrolls (yeah yeah!), the Greek meatballs, the red shrimp, and the lobster linguine. It wasn't our first time here, by the way: last time we went for the pizza (see, that's what we love here: everything over the top and pizza on your plate) and it was truly delicious.
