These are the best liquor stores and wine shops in Amsterdam
Want to unpack, but often don't know where to start. We know our tastes, but in the maze that is the supermarket wine shelves, we suddenly don't know what to do with them. Or those bottles there just don't meet the label for a good occasion. We would rather have some professional advice. What do you do then? Off to a wine shop or liquor store. We blindly trust the advice of these liquor stores and wine stores.

Zoldering is one of our favorite restaurants. A accessible bistro where you can eat and drink what you want without an extensive menu and with a wine list to die for. Unaffectedly brilliantly delicious food at Zoldering. We ate an ultimate one there, among other things steak tartare, perfect oysters and a divine one octopus with corn, horseradish and smoked cheese and an original dish with rhubarb buttermilk ice cream, pink pepper and tarragon. Oh, and a warm madeleine afterward. Party.
Enough praise about the restaurant, because it's about Praise. A selection from the restaurant's wine list, specializing in pure authentic European wines and beautiful, matured Bordeaux. Want to know where you stand? The price list is here to download. On Saturdays we deliver them to your home in Amsterdam, other days are by arrangement and orders over 150 euros are delivered free of charge. You can load and unload in front of the door until 15:00 PM and you can park around the corner on the Brouwersgracht. Lof is open from Tuesday to Friday from 11:00 AM to 19:00 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 18:00 PM.
If it were up to us, you can't find enough (natural) wine addresses speed dial to have. Order online, pick up, have it delivered to your home - it's a real deal business that the traditional wine merchant/chain often overtakes. Don't order online for once, and then you see that there are such beautiful buildings behind those online web shops!
Hidden in a side street of the Elandsgracht Chenin Chenin. Probably the natural wine shop with the coolest designer. Logo, posters and website; everything here is pleasing to the eye and of course that is also something. Also great are the (private) master classes that you can do here.
The Wijnerij is located within the Bantammerstraat (the street where Captein en Co also has the terrace). A beautiful (small!) and good one wine shop. The place is beautiful, the range even better. The store also has a nice selection of liqueurs and spirits.
The interior is authentic and feels like a cozy living room. You just have to walk in and the owner will throw the knowledge at you. Not in an annoying way, but rather in a way that always makes you accidentally go home with the perfect bottle of wine.
The best-selling wine? Phew, a difficult one, but that must certainly be the Orange wine in 2024. At ASOP (a sense of place) Wines they keep up with the latest trends. Although Markus can also tell you everything about the wines of the past. A sense of place is the local natural wine shop, bringing wines that express where they come from, who made them, what soil the vines grew in and what the weather was like: a sense of place.
We came for a bottle, we stuck around for the interesting stories. Oh, and we immediately booked the wine tasting that they organize every now and then. This is how ASOP (a sense of place) Wines became a permanent fixture in the Jordaan.
Another natural wine shop, we heard people think. That's true, but this is a great natural wine shop that sweeps away all prejudices. It's not just hipsters; they are very dedicated and have an extremely broad knowledge of what they offer. They have a great cellar list and sometimes sell hidden or long lost gems. And that for a fair price, voila.
Here too a nice selection of wine from France and Italy, and even some vermouth and (legitimate) sake imports.
Here they select wines for five euros with the same mission as a sustainable wine and that makes Chabrol a top place for everyone. There are two locations spread throughout the city, we always stop at the one in Haarlemmerstraat. At Chabrol they mainly work with smaller domaines, bodegas and winemakers who focus entirely on making a good product, you can taste that.
In Amsterdam-Noord (named after the all-knowing owner Karlito) is an initiative of a great aunt who wanted to combine a good natural wine shop with everything else she loves: jazz, beautiful tableware (the ceramic kind) and coffee (to go!) and – important – Brabant sausage bread. The tastiest, says team Amsterdam. Very acceptable sausage bread, says team Brabant ;-). In any case, we (more than) approve of it. So again, on to Amsterdam North and join the Van der Pek street where Chateau Karlito is located.
Chateau Amsterdam is hot & happening! Chateau? So wine? In Amsterdam. YES! Fits like a charm. While the small wine club started in 2017 with a duo (father and son), the team at city winery Chateau Amsterdam has now expanded enormously. You will find it located in the Pretoriusstraat in the oh so cozy and vibrant Amsterdam East Cave de l'Est, or the wine cellar of the east (if only we had that ourselves). As a true wine lover, you have come to the perfect place for everything you want to know about your favorite drink. Cave de l'Est originated from a passion that owner Erik felt bubbling from an early age. Unfortunately, real drinks were not yet an option at the time, but he has managed to make up for that in recent years through his love for good food, conviviality and that one drink that goes so well with it: WINE!
Wine shop Bob can be found on the Elandsgracht. Bob's mission is to make Dutch wines broader and more accessible. All wine comes from grapes that grow on our own soil, yes really, we also have delicious wines from our cold little country! During the tasting you will be taken to various wine growers in the Netherlands and you will of course get to taste different wines that come from Dutch soil. In addition to the seven wines, there are also a number bites. All this costs about 42,50 euros and takes about an hour and a half. (It may be called Bob, but of course it is not the intention that a Bob comes to the tasting, just saying).
