Almost open, 2016

December was for looking back, January is for looking forward.
This undoubtedly wonderful opening is definitely on the agenda for the new year. Hello 2016!

* The school - The new year starts off well on Sunday January 3 with perhaps the coolest (sorry my French) new one of the year: De School aka the successor to Club Trouw, but the plus version. More: The school

Drover's Dog - Amsterdam's third Drovers Dog should open at the end of December, and everything is ready, so we can certainly go to Wibautstraat in early January for all Aussie style no bullshit good food for which the Drover Doggers are now known. More: Drover's Dog

Atelier - Atelier seems to be a party. Rough building, color color color, good vibes only with a dollop of crea-bea. Do we need to say that we really can't wait for the opening of Atelier? January 6th is the day. More: Atelier

* Lola Loud - Pop-up stage-breeding ground-do-it-all Lola Luid opens on Saturday January 9. In West, at Piet Mondriaanstraat 140, everyone who wants to organize something and needs a roof over their head is invited. Start-up retailers, designers, foodies, beauticians - everyone. So we'll see what it will be, but you can eat and drink thanks to lunchroom BOX, which serves sandwiches, wraps, coffee, cake, juice and more at Lola Luid from Tuesday to Sunday. Lola Loud

* MaMa Kelly pop-up @ Horecava, the catering fair in the Rai - Because we love chicken and lobster from MaMa Kelly in The Hague (although that mainly has to do with the fantastic MaMa Kelly building there), the MaMa Kelly pop-up makes us happy. up, although only for a week, from January 9 to 14: MaMa Kelly pop-up

* Baut Zuid As - Baut is not dead, he is alive! The third Baut pop-up - never change a winning team - will open on January 15. This time at the Amsterdam Zuidas, so that the workers there can also enjoy the now well-known Bautgoodness can enjoy, at least until May 2016. Baut

Room service at Olof's - Also temporarily, from January 17 to April 30, Roomservice at Olof's is a fancy pop-up restaurant where the focus is on vegetables and where the undoubtedly beautiful plates are served in Amsterdam's oldest chapel: Room service at Olof's

* SNCKBR - Snacking for quinoa pussy (we didn't think of it either). Anyway: healthy fast food, from January 18 at the Van Woustraat in the Pijp: SNCKBR

* Fishing - 2016 is already all about a healthier existence, it is noticeable. Fish and vegetables are the name of the game and the new Pesca, to be opened on the Rozengracht, promises a revolution in that first area. They call it a fishing theater themselves, and we are eagerly waiting until March. More: Fishing

*The White Room - The Krasnapolsky Hotel, who doesn't know it, has been renovating for a while, with verve. At the beginning of April, the undoubtedly very chic The White Room restaurant will open in the hotel by the chef who is also behind the pans at three Michelin star restaurant De Leest in Vaassen. Krasnapolsky

Bar Roseval - The opening of Bar Roseval by the young couple Yaser and Anouk in the Spaarndammerbuurt is planned for 'spring 2016'. That's too vague for us (because I want to have a Spaarndammer beer again), but what can you do about it? We will keep you informed about the cafe with restaurant-worthy food, from morning to evening, a bit Dutch, a bit exotic, Yaser and Anouk promise. More: Bar Roseval

Meatless District - Good news for Burgundian vegetarians: Meatless District, MD for friends, is coming. The two vegetarian friends have already attended a number of food festivals (practice makes perfect) and will open their permanent MD spot as soon as possible (a location is being worked on). Meatless District

* Ecole - The 'when exactly it will open' is also still unknown at the new Ecole, but the location is not yet: the all-day-all-things-on living room restaurant is opening on the Marie Heinekenplein and the renovation is already progressing steadily as we speak. To be - also - continued. school

Louie Louie - Amsterdam East has been looking forward to the opening of Louie Louie by the now well-known 'Three Wise Men from the East' (who recently also opened Bar Basquiat, and on and on), a few doors away from their first business and our favorite from the very beginning, the Beer Garden. But there is still no opening date. How long can it take, you might say. Louie Louie

*The Pool @ StudentHotel - Maybe it's because De Drie are quite busy with all the (impending) openings, such as those of The Pool, the restaurant in the second Student Hotel, also on Wibautstraat and right next to restaurant C Amsterdam. On the site you can read that some things 'kick ass, fun and funky' is going to be. A place to eat, drink, dance and party. Check. And although it will be a hotel bar dancing, the owners strive - very un-Dutch - to attract an audience from outside. For 'cool kids and young business guys'. Double check. Inspired by Mama Shelter, the Ace Hotel, Pizza East, SoHo House, Rose Bakery and Michelberger. Triple Check.

* The Ponteneur 2.0 (new name?) - With the latest news in this list of the Three from the East for the time being: the renovation of the classic Ponteneur, the cafe in East that closed its doors on December 23. The Wise Men will come, see and will certainly make it a success again. The Ponteneur

*John Dory - Even more of the fresh fish and this too can only be a nice one: the idea that good fish would be more accessible and affordable should be, is up in the air and the former chef of Visaandeschelde is also going to contribute with his John Dory Vistromie (nice word). We don't know when yet, but the store will open in Zinc et les Autres on the Prinsengracht.

(more to come!)
