Out the door dating: outdoor activities for your date

Two birds with one stone: combine the sun and a date. With spring approaching, love seems to be in the air, and we'll hit the road again when the sun comes around the corner. In our changeable little country the sun does not always shine, and that is why, when the sun shows up, we should enjoy it extra, right? And how nice is it to leave the café with your date and hit the road? By doing an activity together you immediately get to know each other better. Is he/she sporty? What is his/her favorite movie? Coffee, tea or matcha?

Nervous about going on a date? Not bad at all and totally logical. Barts Booklet to the rescue. Here: A nice guide for a comfortable date

Breeze

Breeze

Haven't scored a date yet? No problem, Breeze has the answer. Or rather, Breeze has a date for you. Or have you already had a first date and are you looking for inspiration for the second date? Because yes, with that first date in that cute café, Breeze has made it very easy for you. Enter with shaking knees, but leave with a full heart. The location, time and communication were all outsourced. Super easy, but now it's time to take matters into your own hands. Latvian beginning: text, call, proposal, date. But… what are you proposing?

What are fun outdoor activities to do on a second date? For inspiration, we have listed a few fun outdoor date ideas (also for the existing couples among us):

Hortus botanicus

Hortus botanicus

It becomes one for a reason date night named. A night out just has a certain charm that it brings. A certain magic. Who are we to change this golden old formula?

And who was already a fan of the Hortus Botanicus in Amsterdam will find a day out to the Hortus a great option for a second date. It is a very magical place, especially if there is already a bit of tension between you and your date. And if that excitement is not there yet, this environment of the Hortus can give that extra spark. It's like walking into a little fairytale here. The Hortus has something special in the summer months; they organize here Hortus Summer Nights. Every Thursday and Sunday in the months of May, June, July and August, the Hortus is open until 21 p.m.

You don't have to come all the way to Amsterdam. Leiden also has one Hortus Botanicus, the oldest in the Netherlands in fact. Or go to the summer evening of the Botanical gardens of Utrecht. Every Thursday evening in June. Wageningen is also worth a visit for it Belmonte Arboretum.

Walk a 1000 miles

Walk a 1000 miles

A walk, or a long hike, in the city or in the forest. With a walk the options are endless. Despite its rather elderly image, a walk is the perfect activity to start a date (at least). You agree to meet somewhere and just start walking. There are no difficult actions or skills involved. Simple as that.

What is nice is that the walk is a small one spice to give. And that is possible in exactly the way you want it. Are you really a coffee lover? Then do one coffee round. Map out a route where you can drink a nice cup of coffee, then continue to the tastiest bakery and finish with another cup of coffee, a nice cup of tea or matcha. The same goes for one wine or beer route. The choice is huge.

Browsing the market

Browsing the market

A date on Monday? Well, sometimes you don't get to choose your free moments. But… luckily we do know a few nice places that are open on Mondays. Just like the Noordermarkt in Amsterdam, which is available on Mondays and Saturdays. So if you have a date on Saturday, this one is also highly recommended.

The Noordermarkt is the place to be if you are looking for new vintage gems, from ceramics to vintage Burberry jackets, fresh fruit and vegetables, furniture and food stands. They have everything here. Literally everything. And this market is nice and big, so you won't be done quickly here either.

Another nice thing about this activity: you learn a lot about your date. Because what says more about someone than the items they pick out at a flea market. Just kidding. But still, a walk through the market offers many starting points for conversation. And that's definitely something you look for on a date, right?

Shop 43 and R. de Rosa

Shop 43 and R. de Rosa

Finished the Noordermarkt? But not done chatting yet? Nice! Then do yourself and your date a favor and settle down Shop 43. Here they really have the very, very, very delicious apple pie in all of Amsterdam. And nice and big too. Oh yeah, and they're (usually) warm too. You have to wait in line for a while, or you can succeed and immediately sit down on the picnic tables in the sun.

And if a tour of the Jordaan is planned, then drop by R. de Rosa. A cozy bar with delicious natural wine. And the vibes here? Homely and cozy.

Sporty spice

A sporty date is also fun to do. How about an hour padel? Still looking for two other opponents. For some, this may be chill, a date with a following, which may make dating a lot less intense.

Would you rather just spend some time together? Then it is bouldering very nice. The bouldering vibe is really great hip and happening. Nice music, nice people, nice and sporty (just cross off that workout to-do list) and then enjoy a special beer at the café. You don't have to talk all the time, you have something to do. It really is a very relaxed and non-binding way to get to know each other in a different environment than, for example, in a café or a restaurant. Bee Beast Boulders you can go to various locations, including Amsterdam, Rotterdam or The Hague. Or go to Plastic in Leiden. But Utrecht is also a good place for bouldering.

Still more of it running? Then a tour of Vondelpark (or another park of course) is also a nice idea. Still at a pace where you can talk to each other, because that is of course what a date is intended for. And how nice is it to then sit down on a terrace (preferably with sun) and then enjoy that well-deserved lunch at, for example, the Big Milk House.

Food Festival

Food Festival

Going on a pub crawl with your date: that's great fun. But let's make it a little more original. You invite your date for one Food Festival (tip: buy tickets in advance). It's actually the same principle as a pub crawl, but now you're on a festival site. You just hop from one food stand to wine bar and back to another food stand. You can certainly fill a whole day or evening with this. And then we haven't even talked about the atmosphere at such a food festival. Music is present, enough other people around you, nice lighting, in other words a very handsome face. Perfect for a (romantic) date night.

Here you will find a nice selection of delicious food festivals this summer.

Grab a movie?

Grab a movie?

The classic. A movie date. Everyone thinks something different about it. Nice, not nice. But we're actually just a fun team. And especially if it is an open air cinema. Oh yes, we certainly have them here in the Netherlands too. Not just in the States. Oh, you want to know where? Now at plek in Amsterdam-Noord for example. Or Rooftop movie nights, spread throughout Amsterdam. Pick a date and go to the movies. Another nice option is Seize the Night, an open-air film festival that takes place at the end of August in both Utrecht and Amsterdam.
