20+ x breakfast, lunch and brunch in Amsterdam
We have a great love for breakfast, lunch, and brunch out, especially on weekends. Or during the week to make it feel like it's the weekend. There's nothing better than starting the day with an early morning walk, while it's still nice and quiet, followed by a stop at our favorite spots in the city. So: more than (we just let the list continue to grow) twenty breakfasts, lunches and brunches in Amsterdam.
A gift to ourselves, this list by the way. Our best Amsterdam tips? We tell you about them in our Amsterdam guide!
You have breakfast at De Kleine Bes, our favorite newcomer in the Dapperbuurt. You can visit this awesome corner building with an enclosed terrace from early morning until late at night. Have breakfast with a boiled egg, the tastiest sourdough bread, a croissant, jam, cheese, and a cup of tea. Our lunch favorite: a ricotta sandwich with pickled lemon and anchovies. De Kleine Bes is exactly the kind of neighborhood spot where you spontaneously linger—and if you want, all day long. After breakfast, you can switch to orange wine on tap, and for those who wish, a delicious daily special in the evening. And yes, that rhymes. Oh yes, and they have a sunny terrace—all day long, at least.
Okay, let's talk Gorgo LunchroomA new hit with nothing but rave reviews. Right in the heart of Amsterdam, on Staringplein, flavors from Turkey, Kurdistan, Armenia, Greece, and Syria come together in a fresh and modern way. In other words: Gorgo is inspired by Anatolia and surrounding countries. “Anatolia, what exactly is that again?” We saw your question coming. It is a historical region located largely in present-day Turkey that has been a crossroads of various people and cultures from those surrounding areas for centuries. So it is not a standalone country – your topographical knowledge hasn't failed you yet, no stress. Surprise, surprise: the owners' roots lie here too. It is a mix of everything, but Gorgo is not chaotic. Here, you can enjoy a relaxed meal from a clear and concise menu.
Another coffee shop in Amsterdam. As if there weren't enough coffee to be had already, luckily Two Story Amsterdam has a nice bonus: it's also a gallery. So if you love a good cup of coffee and browsing art and design, Two Story Amsterdam is the place to be.
What can you expect? A changing exhibition upstairs, a selection of designer brands in the shop, and of course, enjoying a treat in the café downstairs. It feels a bit like stepping into a quirky home magazine with a good espresso (or matcha) in hand.
Weekend = brunch at NENI Amsterdam. Think: a table full of Levantine delicacies to share (or not). From a colorful mezzo platter and shakshuka to halloumi & avocado with the Byblos breakfast. Lighter? Then go for çilbir with labneh and paprika butter. Those with a real sweet tooth will score a French Toast with seasonal fruit or honey labneh. All washed down with a Mimosa, Bloody Mary, Espresso Martini or homemadee ice tea. Feel like having a nice brunch right away, right?
The Willem lives in that big white triumphal arch (Amsterdam style) aka The Willemspoort, at the end of the Haarlemmerdijk. Well, actually, it was never (isn't) called that; you probably know it better as the Haarlemmerpoort. If you cycle from the city centre towards Westerpark, you would hardly notice it, but there is a small but very lovely terrace by the waterfront. With a view of Westerpark, and all the good things about De Willem.
De Willem features a relaxed all-day café (right at number 66 as you enter) and a slightly more fancy restaurant (on the other side of the gate at number 58). We already had a drink at the café bar (nice!) and are now heading out onto the terrace starting in May!

Breakfast and/or lunch is included, but where will we hang out afterwards? When in Amsterdam Of course you also want to go on the canals. Nothing is as beautiful as seeing the city from the water. With Voyage Amsterdam Explore the city at its best, as this high-end canal cruise takes you through the classic, UNESCO-protected canal belt to the Amstel River and much more in between.
But actually best of allBreakfast is served on the boat. The breakfast cruise is utterly relaxing: you'll watch the city wake up, sail past stately canal houses, pass under tranquil bridges, and pass historic sights in the soft morning light. The light breakfast snacks are excellent, and you can upgrade to include unlimited drinks like freshly brewed coffee, tea, and (yes) mimosas. There's live guidance on board: a local skipper shares stories and fun facts during the cruise. Voyage always sails with a small group and has a live guide. Their other tours also include typical Dutch snacks. Besides the breakfast cruise, Voyage offers more options: cruises with beer, wine, and soft drinks included, an evening cruise (all lit up = instant romance), and even a candlelight cruise.
From Little Collins There are two (in De Pijp and on Bilderdijkstraat). Both are incredibly delicious with creative dishes, also great for vegetarians, and (probably for this reason) almost always full. Little Collins in De Pijp is your favorite; it has a bit more atmosphere, and you can walk straight to a terrace around the corner.
At Office, At the food design studio and canteen in Amsterdam West, they know exactly how to turn food into a work of art. And it turns out: their "sister" in the museum is just such a gem. Because they are also the creators behind Found, the café-bar concept at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
Just like Fonda, Oficina emphasizes quality, design, and taste. This isn't just a sandwich and a cup of coffee; it's truly about the look and feel, the design. So, if you're looking for a fantastic photo of yourself with a croissant, Oficina is the perfect spot. place to be.

Completely in keeping with the elegant Hollywood theme, it combines Spanish influences with a truly delightful mix of red and pink hues, velvet fabrics, and plenty of gold accents. A truly stylish combination. And with the Amsterdam skyline as well, what more could you ask for? Well! We'd love to have brunch on Sunday.

That one wooden building in the Erasmus Park in West. Not very esthetic, but very cozy and simply a classic: Terrace SparrowWhether you're here for breakfast, brunch, or a snack, it's always good (and very affordable, too). Combine it with a short stroll through Erasmus Park, as it's not that big.
And if you want to bring your kids, that's perfect, because there's a playground next to Terrasmus. During the summer, they also organize live music and workshops for both children and adults on weekends!
Tip: try the (ham) cheese toastie on Turkish bread, we think it's very tasty.
A sweet English tea house with an Amsterdam edge and a very nice beer and snack menu: that is The Cottage in Amsterdam East. For breakfast, brunch, lunch & drinks. Bam. All that, comfort comfort comfort, in a very cozy green-yellow room with beautiful old schoolporcelain Heinekentap. With an old Dutch print, you-know-what. Nice. And of course that excellent breakfast (also a vegetarian and vegan version) and with homemade baked beans!
In a cozy and quiet side street off the Overtoom, nestled among the trees, you'll find Café Conrad, a charming neighborhood café. The corner building itself is a beauty: arched windows from top to bottom, cheerful flowers adorning the window frames. During the sunny months, colorful retro chairs adorn the patio, and the charming retro style continues inside with old Dutch white furniture, vintage wooden bar stools, cast iron lamps, and, of course, the games cabinet.
The menu offers a taste of local dedication during coffee, breakfast, drinks, or dinner. The menu isn't overly elaborate, but it's good and full of character. Various homemade dishes are available. pies, fresh sourdough bread with jam from the neighbor or soup What's the day's theme? Moritz, the owner, sources everything he serves locally, perfectly embodying the motto "From the neighbors, for the neighbors." The atmosphere? Relaxed enough to crack open a book, just as cozy for a game with friends, or a candlelit dinner. A truly relaxed, homey atmosphere, where you're always welcome, whether for a quick coffee or simply to enjoy the entire evening.
On to Durgerdam, which is still just Amsterdam and one of the most beautiful parts of North Holland. That's where it is Hotel Durgerdam in a restaurant The Mark. A beautiful place, wrapped in natural tones, they cook locally, fresh and seasonal. A crackling fire next to the bar, a fine wine cellar and a terrace on the waterfront. You can certainly sit comfortably there.
But about breakfast, as you can see in the photos, the dishes on the menu are not normally tasty, for both adults and kids. This is really the kind of place where you want to go and sit down, even if you don't sleep there. So, take that banana to De Mark restaurant. It's worth it.
What smells more like the weekend than an extensive brunch? Correct. Nothing at all. And so we are happy to join the (Bottemless) Brunch at Celia for the ultimate weekend feeling. Okay, and a bit for the feeling of being in California: because that is the cuisine and the vibe by Celia to the fullest.
On Saturday and Sunday from 12.00:60 you can take a seat in the beautiful, simplistic XNUMX's design of Celia (love love love) where the fresh citrus colors – with the help of a little California dreaming – takes you to the other side of the ocean for a moment. A 'normal' brunch? No problem, but from June you can also join us for one Bottomless Brunch at Celia: mimomas, cucumber margaritas, cinnamon bunch french toast and many more such good dishes. Best idea of the week.
Read more about Brunch at Celia.
At yusu in Amsterdam East you can go for the freshest coffee made by a coffee expert Kick-start. Best friend Nicole bakes the tastiest Surinamese (breakfast) snacks there. A small menu, that's what we like, cakes and that kind of thing. Just briefly about Yusu's looks: sleek, clean and slick. A bit Scandinavian, but also influences from Marrakech.
At Oliver Green they believe that plant-based foods without refined sugars and oils are best for our bodies and the planet. This food ethic This is also reflected in the kitchen, because we only cook with fresh and unprocessed ingredients. Oh, and the packaging material is plastic free and compostable. How about one acai bowl, coconut chia pudding, pesto avocado sandwich, a burrito wrap, salad bowl or a Smoothie?
Oliver Green (now also in West)
look, oldskool Brasserie De Joffers, in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid is really a great tip. One of those for every day. Trendy? Fortunately not. And that's exactly why we love Joffers. Because it is simply good, without hassle, for a long time and for a long time.
Or well... Not hip... Don't let them hear it. Now we have to honestly say that we are 'hip;' don't always find a positive title at all, but not everyone takes it that way, so let's be clear: Joffers is indeed very tasteful. And nice. Go to the Willemsparkweg.
Hotel, restaurant and bar: Morgen & Mees has it all. Hotels and breakfast are a very good combination. We find the hotel breakfasts (often extra) extensive the tastiest. Fresh juices, such as the power booster to start your day extra well. Add a portion of French toast and you can't go wrong. Ha! Also on the menu bellinis, pain du chocolate, home made scones, and more of that kind of goodies. Mmm
The best place for brunch/breakfast 2.0 Odette's buffet. In the heart of Amsterdam, on the Prinsengracht, you will find this beautiful, bright, everlasting restaurant. Odette understands that brunch equals coffee, Bloody Marys and lots of delicious food. So you will find delicious coffees (from Bocca) plus an extensive breakfast menu. The breakfast menu includes scrambled eggs with salmon, but also yoghurt with granola – the good things.
Nowadays a somewhat hip breakfast consists of a colorful, healthy, fresh and fruity bowl. And although half of Bart HQ prefers eggs and bacon, the other half wants those bowls. The compromise is then Benjis: whatever you like, the place itself is such a tasty one go-to place that just keeps filling up, us Benjis. Perhaps that's the simplicity: At Benji's you eat a sandwich. Have a bowl. And you drink a coffee. From wooden tables (or the large communal table in the middle) where you sit on simple wooden chairs combined with an abundance of greenery. That's all. Exactly right, that's for sure. There are now three locations: the first in East at Wibautstraat 196, the second Benji's Toko in West (also dinner!) and number 3, Benji's Bro in Bos en Lommer.
Our favorite is Hotel V on Nesplein. The hotel restaurant here, The Lobby, serves an uncomplicated always-good breakfast. Always fun, always tasty. Although we secretly like to stay seated until lunch starts: then we put the delicious one here flammkuchen inside. Anyway, Nesplein for president, but also flat The Lobby Fizeaustraat in Amsterdam East. If we have a long day of working outside the door ahead of us, which can start early, we will definitely join us here.
Say your breakfast, say your bread. Good bread. And croissants. And brioche. Cake? Yes, that's also allowed. You can relax at breakfast, because you still have the rest of the day to make up for it. That's why we have a nice list of artisan bakeries in Amsterdam.
The program Amstel Hotel a high threshold? Stop it. If you fancy a late breakfast (or brunch) at the weekend with a piece of cake, a nice cappuccino and an amazing view - right on the Amstel - then A Bar your place in the Amstel hotel. You get there via the main entrance of the Amstel Hotel, which – let's be honest – is still quite a lot of fun. Chic. After all, the hotel is an icon of Amsterdam. Once inside the beautiful white marble hall with ditto staircase, the concierge will give you a friendly welcome. Then turn right to the back, and you are at A Bar where you plop down on - recovery: you sit in, you are in the Amstel - one of the gray, blue, or crèwith colorful benches and seats, on the Amstel with a view over the water and canal houses.
In the Pillows Maurits At The Park building Spring Café Brasserie to find. With a chic and elegant interior, you get a brasserie feeling inside. are on the menu all-day bites that are slightly different from the average bites. With a cuisine of French and Italian influences, the dinner menu also participates in this. Roasted cod with white beans, mussels and chorizo sauce, for example. Sounds good right? In any case, we think so. The best part is that the café is on the Oosterpark side and has a fantastic terrace that extends into the Oosterpark. Ideal when the sun comes out again. Because really, you want to sit here when the weather is nice, no lie.
From plek Where coffee meets Fashion. You will find them in the middle of the Pijp, Scandinavian Embassy. You will find a large one on the map range to unknown coffee roasters from all over Scandinavia, because they can be ambassadors of various small coffee roasters from Denmark, Sweden en Norway – it is also possible to follow coffee workshops here -. Because the products that come with Scandinavian Embassy are used locally and change with the seasons, there is always a different menu. But you can bet that you won't be disappointed, because everything looks the same finger lickin' good from.
Lagom is located in the heart of Amsterdam, a stone's throw from the Nieuwmarkt. A Swedish-inspired all-day brunch spotOn the menu, you'll find avocado toast with cherry tomatoes and balsamic vinegar, banana oat pancakes with maple syrup and walnuts, or a Korean fried chicken burger if you're craving something spicy (we like it). It's simply a good place to be—not too trendy, not too fancy, just good.
Sometimes, oh no, often, we feel like scones and then there is really only one address: De Bakkerswinkel, in Amsterdam South, West (Westergas), and the nicest city center on Warmoesstraat. With nine - nine - branches to their name, located throughout the Netherlands, this remains one of the better breakfast/lunch/high tea in Amsterdam. Recommended? The scones. And simple breakfast with a croissant and jam. Like everything, home made. Or go straight for the high tea with all kinds of delicacies: mixed sweet and savory.
If you're looking for something a little different than your standard brunch, Miss G's Brunch Boat is the place to be. You'll board a boat on the Amsterdam canals and glide through the city for 90 minutes while enjoying brunch and unlimited drinks. The atmosphere is relaxed but with a festive feel thanks to the good food. beats on board.
There are several ticket options, from a full-on bottomless brunch with mimosas and Bloody Marys (because as they say: make the world a better place, one Bloody Mary at a time.) to a more relaxed version with just one drink. The roof opens and closes, so rain or shine doesn't matter, and children are welcome too. Convenient, because this way you can combine delicious food with a mini outing on the water.
New Zealand style Amsterdam favorite for breakfast and brunch. Not just from us, but for the whole of Amsterdam. Bakers & Roasters, opened a second business (number 1 is located in the Pijp) on the Kadijksplein. Officially the center is called here, but it feels like (the oh-so-nice) East. The menu is – thank you dearest 'Kiwi lad and Brazilian Boy' – just as tasty as in De Pijp: you can now also eat the tastiest egg dishes at the Kadijkplein. Eggs plus, like Mexican style with black beans, avocado, crème fraîche, tomato salsa and jalapeños, or toast with eggs benedict and hollandaise sauce. Oh and also the corn fritters with haloumi, the pancakes with homemade syrup and the banana bread are all too delicious. They are open seven days a week, from 9:XNUMX am. You want it.
Delicious coffee, a (fortunately not too) extensive menu with a very nice croque madame and a lovely terrace for people watching. Oh, the brioche always goes well too. You can also sit inside, where you can have a nice chat with the baristas.
With no fewer than four locations (Vondelpark, Hoftuin, Spaarndammerstraat and Westerpark), there is always a Dignita somewhere near you and fortunately, because you wake up wonderfully. With coffee from RumBaba from East, bread from their own bakery and all their favorite fruit and vegetables Lindenhoff you just can't break it. High-quality breakfast, lunch and brunch, and always just a little bit different. Our favorite location is the Hoftuin. Even though we try something different every now and then, we usually don't get any further than cauliflower fritters, because they are so so so good. Oh, and also great to take the kids with you - there is always an (outdoor) play corner.
A household name on the edge of the Red Light District. So much so that you almost forget about it. Don't! It's too nice for that. Everything you see is for sale, including the chair you are sitting on. We usually stick to toasted sandwiches and eggs. Also good.
Bagels for breakfast, we always say yes to that. By the way, also for lunch, brunch or any other time: we are not difficult. I would like bagels from that Flo's Appetizing Bagels than. Because if you do it, you have to do it right.
